I think you should have to catch the gloomerang since it is what makes boomerangs cool

The fact you have to catch boomerangs is what makes them really interesting and fun, and adds risk and reward. You should have to catch it to avoid losing a clump of sainity.

Buff it as compensation if it becomes underpowered.

It's a boomerang, which is something you throw and then catch when it returns to you. Why does using the gloomerang just play the attack animation and spawn a projectile? What's the point of it being a boomerang and not, I dunno, a blowdart? Why does it return if it's literally only visual and there is no point to it coming back? 

It could, I dunno, fire three projectiles in a row that you have to catch in a row? Or maybe you throw it in a direction to pierce through enemies and then slice through again as it returns? So many possibilities, because actual boomerangs are actually interesting.

Why is it a boomerang if it's nothing at all like a boomerang? It looks clunky too, it's so weird how you're holding a gloomerang and then gloomerang projectiles spawn when you attack. No animation when it returns to you, no function, just looks odd. Doesn't even have an animation for like disappearing and reappearing in your hand when you fire it.

I think the best middle ground would be something like, let's say the first three attacks throw shadow discs, and every fourth attack throws a gloomerang itself that needs to be caught, this way it would add an interesting gimmick to it but without changing much of the current playstle 

No thanks. I love the way the gloomerang behaves. Its quite a alot of fun and reminds me of the disc weapon from terraria.

Making it so you need to catch it would make it feel clunky to use and slow. 

Catching the regular boomerrang is annoying enough. The player likes to not catch it at times and gets hit by it as they try to do something else.

it could do something cool when it returns to you that it damages more things at once like aoe kinda attack

alsol i think it works like the moon staff more like its counterpart of an ranged weapon where it shoots something but instead of makin another staff, a dark staff wich honestly would be way cooler and more interesting then a...not so boomerang boomerang

You are aware that this thing deals more damage to something the longer it’s been in flight right? That’s like a instant death sentencing if you fail to “catch” it, and I’m not sure if catching is different on PC, but on Xbox you gotta smash the Catch button at exactly the right time or get smacked by it.

(I wonder if Pc can just mouse over the boomerang while it’s in flight and click to catch?)

Which is boring, flat and doesnt bring an interesting risk reward mechanic to an item that allows you to hit from a safe distant. And lets see what else they add

On keyboard, you can simply use the action button to put yourself in a catching animation when the boomerang is close to you.

I am not talking about lore. I am talking about gameplay.

 

It would be more fun if you had to catch it because its risk vs reward.

I said it could lower sainiry if it hits you instead.

I don't like how the gloomerang looks so awkward. The player just throws the boomerang and that animation it has looks awkward it would have been better just the boomerang itself spinning and when it comes back to the player the player doesn't even have a little "impact" of animation that it returned to the player it just comes and the player has no reaction to it going into their inventory it makes it appear low quality to me.
