If I don't start on Ceres, will the Geothermal Heat Pump not be generated?

it will not even if there is space for it  i havent seet it non of thes spawns (i am not surre but it might be posible to use def tools to put it in if u play with scramble dlc there is a lot of space on botom of ceres shard in evrey spawn i seen)

The Geothermal Heat Pump comes with its own win-condition. If that condition is not there, then probably no heat-pump.

I sincerely hope this is not the intended implementation. Please Implement it quickly!

There should be an option in the story traits menu to let it generate on any asteroid, but it should only be available if you have completed the Full Steam Ahead imperative once

I'm pretty sure you can tinker with worldgen files to get it to spawn elsewhere if you really want to and are not afraid to go a bit technical. (Shouldn't be that hard though. Worldgen files are plain text, human readable, configuration.)

Is this actually the case? It may be due to the sandbox, but it didn't unlock even when I achieved it in sandbox mode.

I haven't tried it in detail yet, but at least copying and pasting from the #Geothermal Imperative section didn't work (world generation failed).

Direct generation poi in debug mode also seems to cause an error when starting the pump.

I said that as something that would be cool if it was in the game. Unfortunately its not

As a side note to this, unless you start on Ceres, the Ceres shard asteroids that are generated with the Frosty Planet DLC enabled will not generate Heat Pumps.

You can use the Cluster Generation Manager mod if you're playing spaced out

one thing to note is that if you spawn multiple ceres-type asteroids using this mod, only a single poi will generate on the first explored asteroid (not counting the ceres shard asteroids, as mentioned already by SilverSpoon), the other asteroids will have generated neutronium but lack the poi structures.

I do agree it's a tad bit sad that the poi is exclusive to specific worldgens in vanilla.
