Remove the Fencing Sword from the "weapons" crafting filter

Recommended Posts

The Fencing Sword is primarily meant to be a tool for turning fences. While it does match the spear's damage and has greater durability, its attack rate and animation are much slower, to the point where an axe might be preferable.

While trying to get a friend into the game, they crafted and primarily used the Fencing Sword as a weapon, up until they realized it doesn't deal any more damage than the spear.

They are not the only person to be confused by the Fencing Sword. I believe its placement in the Weapons crafting filter (and the fact that it's a sword) might make it seem viable when it's main purpose isn't even for combat. Perhaps it should be moved to the decorations or tools filter?

I mean, I sure like that old spears can still be used as a basis for other items. A tool that can also be a decent weapon is more so. So really, I don't think I agree on this change to make it just a decorations/tools item.

The fencing sword actually has several good uses that I’m sure people don’t pay attention to because they just go “But X, Y or Z is Better”

it can be used to more easily attack Rabbits or Grass Geckos without them running away, & It can also be used to safely dispatch bat swarms.

What it is NOT very useful for however is fighting spiders, the animation is too slow, you will get Smite Gank’ed worse than if you were actually playing Smite.

Don't say I didn’t warn You..

Plus it’s great to get a few more extra uses out of a spear you’ve crafted that’s down to 1-2 durability.

I'm not saying to remove its functionality as a weapon, just to move it to a different crafting tab so it doesn't seem like that's its primary use. Without the context of fence/furniture rotating, it just looks like a weapon.

If you think it should stay, then maybe instead, they could just make it a bit more obvious in its description that it's not an "upgrade" to the spear? Right now the only indication of what it's meant for is in the scrapbook; the crafting description just says it's "a sword, used for fencing."
