Most of Wickerbottom’s combat tricks have become ineffective vs new threats. Can her skill tree fix this?

The majority of Wickerbottom’s combat powers have become very ineffective or downright unusable vs newer threats. 

Many new threats cant be put to sleep, have huge aoe attacks and ofcourse planar entity protection. 

this means 3 large parts of Wickerbottom’s combat arsenal; STS, Tentacles and Grumble Bees have become near unusable vs new content. 


There is no generic planar electric weapon either for her to make use of with Rain Rituals.

Only Arachnophobia has remained somewhat consistent but even then many new bosses have fast movements/lunges that are not slowed down by the webbing.

All of this means that combat as Wickerbottom vs new content often feels like ur just playing Wilson when thats never been the case in the past. 

This is made worse by the fact that Maxwell’s combat powers have been increased to a crazy degree with his refresh and he can use all of Wickerbottom’s powers on top of it leaving the player to question why Wickerbottom even still exists. 
 

Hopefully these two issues can be corrected in the future. 
 

i think her library of books could lend itself very nicely to an extensive skilltree with upgrades for most if not all the books so each Wickerbottom player can specialize in a specific “field of study”. 

that's not just wickerbottom, that's just how all new bosses work, you're supposed to only use a melee weapon or perks of characters that got reworked recently or got a skill tree and got big enough numbers to become able to use their stuff against everything anyway

the game still exists before you make a celestial portal and all books

that's how it worked with all characters before skill trees except maxwell, spiders and pre skill tree merms just die, wolfgang's and wigfrid's perks were mostly irrelevant, woodie has no way to proc stuns before skill tree and was just bad, idk if using abigail's even worth it considering that damage multiplier doesn't affect planar, volt goat jelly and pepper spice hardly work etc., planar and new bosses were practically made to make all characters fight same way
