Wolfgang should burn a lot of calories

Recommended Posts

Wolfgang was the first major character whose mechanics revolved heavily around hunger, that has largely been taken away from him, iirc his stomach is smaller, and he no longer has increased hunger drain from being mighty, and while he still has a lower hunger drain while wimpy its rare you ever become wimpy in the current system without actively avoiding mightiness gain which you have no incentive to do as maintaining it effectively costs nothing. His old mechanics were far superior to his rework which just screams gamey and made just to roll along with the idea of reworking all the characters without really considering how it changes his gameplay focus from balancing hunger for maximum benefit to just being Beeftank McSmashy.

Old wolfgang being hunger focused doesnt even take away from warly also being hunger focused since how they tackle it is different, with wolfgang simply having to consider when to eat, and warly having to think hard about what to eat, they honestly would work well together as complement characters.

To be fair, remember that old Wolfgang was considered incredibly op and his hunger downside wasn't a big deal

New Wolfgang is even more busted and the hunger was a decent downside. You had to constantly eat in combat, small foofs like honey was optimal.

there won't be a cost after getting to full though since drain gets paused for 5 seconds after doing something that would've increased the value iirc

This would be terrible you want players to lose hunger extra hunger just for doing actions?

Wolfgang's mightiness rises while doing anything physical and falls quickly if his hunger is already low this won't go over well it would get as annoying as Winona's crafting hunger

i didn't say that i'd want it to work that way

Hypothetically if Wolfgang loss 1 hunger to gain 1 mightiness then I imagined it would work equivalently across the board going from 0-100 is 100 food.

Lose 75 food from hunger naturally, constantly draining mightiness depending on that food state and constantly gaining it from lifting/working will stack alot.

I know there could be a lot of nuance but an original issue people had is that Wolfgang is "wasteful" especially for inexperienced players who only keep their bars filled because they're too anxious to let them drop.

i didn't say that i want the entire thing to work that way or similarly, i simply said that there won't be a cost for staying mighty in that case

that's an issue with people, not a character

The point is, it is really fun when you are forced to do stuff with regard to a character's traits. Upsides can be non existent early in the game but downsides are always present

problem's that most down sides don't make the game much harder or more fun and only reduce amount of strats that you can use for playing through the game e.g. warly's cursed to only eat meaty stew
