Why nerf the batbat?

I'm puzzled by this change. The bat bat is crafted using a shadow magic station, with cave/ruins themed materials (bats spawn from breaking pseudoscience stations, purple gems is a common ruins drop). This weapon also can be found in loot chests in the labyrinth. And they decide to make it useless in the area where it fits thematically and is encountered the most often. It's like making Strident Trident not work on ocean mobs, or pirate cutless not work on monkeys.

Me when magic items stop working in logically unexplainable ways (duh that's why it's called magic, because it's not real)
