Make monkey banners prevent pirate raids

Recommended Posts

Not against this idea, but I would prefer if there was actually a good reason to engage with the pirates rather than scaring them away with a cannon. As it stands right now there's no incentive. If you actually engage, it's all downside: spend resources for combat, and now you need to take a trip to the monkey island to deal with cursed trinkets.

Bandanas are pretty nice. You can loot their sunken chest if they spawn with one. Sometimes it's fun to just fight things. I haven't found that removing a monkey curse is all that inconvenient.

I also like that you have the option to let them rob your twigs or scare them off with a cannon.

1. just make them not drop cursed trinkets

2. on top of the treasure after the raid, they could drop a treasure map to an extra valuable chest

The captain's map absolutely should reveal a sunken treasure. I would love this change.

However, this has been suggested a few times going all the way back to the start of the beta. Klei signaled that this change is probably not going to happen when they changed bottle treasure reveal chance to be 100% after returning the cracked pearl.

Hopefully they have something bigger/better in mind for the pirates.

Their treasure should give better loot not bandanas, rot and some cutless...
