Winona's Teletransport Station is very underwhelming

Recommended Posts

I was most excited for this structure because seeing more ways to travel as characters excites me. That being said, at the moment Teletransport stations are very limited, unintuitive and rather boring to use for 2 big reasons: Range and Function.

First off, their range. I do not understand why it has been shortened from the range Telipads had in Don't Starve- if anything, they should've been vastly increased considering the world sizes of DST is far larger than that of DS.

Secondly, the function. The way it works now is near identical to Telelocator Focuses; the player can only go between 2 spots at a time. This is seriously limiting and bothersome when we consider:
A) Other characters like Wanda and Wortox have built-in teleportation options that they have FULL control over, whereas Winona has this incredibly limited form of teleportation as her final skill in her skill tree.
B) Further expanding on point A, the other affinity skill Winona has literally allows her to choose which destination she'd like to travel to, whereas the Transport Stations do not.

My honest recommendation is for Winona to be able to select which Teletransport Station to teleport herself to. Maybe when you use the Portasol, the map opens up and allows you to click on any Teletransport Station within range to teleport to it. Maybe this option would only be available when Winona is specifically standing on top of a station, so that she may still use her Portasol in a pinch without needing to drag up the entire map.

So in short, I'd request that the range of these stations be majorly buffed to accustom to the world size of DST and we get more control over which stations Winona may travel to. These changes would make Teletransport Stations an excellent sidegrade to Telelocators: Sacrificing range and mob transportation for a cheaper, more controlled player travelling option.

You teleport to the closest point so you can make, let say, 1 point in the forest, another in the center and the 3rd one in you base in the opposite edge of the map. Now you have 3 points that you can visit instanly

Is way more versatile than teleportation focus because is easier to control which point is connected to next point. Something harder with the focus because is global
