tree jam should be able to aid the new trees' growth cycles

Recommended Posts

the new exotic trees are really interesting, requiring a specific turf and seasons, apparently. i really like them! not the growth cycle though

from some testing, they seem to take a full season to go to the next stage, and some of them only in certain seasons (sproutrock seems to be autumn/summer for the first stage, then only summer, and gloomthorn seems to be autumn/winter, then only winter)

that means if you don't plant them at the very start of a season, you should expect them to grow in about 2 in-game years. that ain't fun, that's so much time! that's why i think tree jam should be able to aid in the growth cycle

maybe just making them grow in off-seasons at only 50% efficiency, or reduce the growth time by 20% every 7 days when you goop them, or something else. i just think it would play nicely into the ocean content, rewarding you more for finding stuff like the waterlogged biomes

what do you guys think about this?

It's actually just one or the other that's required: either they're on the right turf, or it's the right season. That's just while in the seed state, my bad.

oh, really? guess i just didn't test them right. i swear that a sprout rock seed in autumn/summer didn't grow until i changed the turf up

My mistake. It's only in the seed stage that just one or the other will do.

Creating interactions between ocean conent like this is a great idea, and I think they should impliment it. It makes things feel much more interconnected and that helps encourage people to do more stuff on the ocean.
