Why do rifts spawn 5 days after activating them?

Imo they should spawn immediately after activating them, so you can interact with rifts content without having to wait too much.

There's no reason to add a delay, you can already mess with other people by activating the ancient gateway and locking the nightmare cycle in case of shadow rifts so ink blights aren't a much bigger issue and, if both rift rains are that much of an issue, rain could be immediately disabled after rift activation in that shard, so the players would have time until the next rain to prepare if they weren't aware of someone doing rifts progression, with gateway destabilization/ruins regeneration/night only day already existing as signals that someone activated rifts.

All it does is add an awkward wait for interacting with rift content if you killed a final questline boss as, well, one of the last bosses.

 

While on the topic, could there maybe be a way to advance rifts' stage? Perhaps a vote that could be activated by inserting a moongleam into the rift, and if more than half of the players on the server are agreed, the rift would get advanced to the next stage or spit the moongleam back out otherwise, so there's no need to wait 10 days after rift spawns for it to start spawning brightshades, since pure brilliance is useless on it's own.

I'd assume the reason it takes so long is to not overwhelm the player. They just had a good battle, to have brightshades and stuff like that spawn immediately after could be a little much.

 That's not too bad of an idea, I feel as if you'd have to go through the regular cycle once or twice though before you can start forcing anything.

brightshades only spawn after 15 days after the rift gets opened atm, removing the delay would make it 10 days, so the only threat are ink blights, but you can run away from them and they only spawn if you go to ruins/guano/cave spider

it's primarily for getting to interact with rift content for the 1st time after less time
