Year of the Dragonfly ~ Battle Arena ~

Recommended Posts

The Year of the Boatingfly update this week was quiet controversial.

I kinda like it, but boating is to unresponsive, slow and bloody dangerous right now.

There is also a massive lack of Dragonfly content, in the Year of the Dragonfly.

An interisting idea is a Broodling Battle Arena!

You buy the guy at the shrine with gold nuggets. (like the carrat)

Then you can build an arena (like in the year of the bunnymen update) to let those little bastar...beast fight each other (Charly spawns a shadow version)

You build training machines for the Broodling: punching bags, speed gym, etc. (like in the year of the carrat) to train your little hellspawn!

You raise his health, attack speed, damage and enrage timer and then you send him to glorious battle!

Yo can also use him to fight other creatures, spiders, pigman, etc. outside ot the event.

You can unlock diffrent skins for him in the event like those:

ThymeSpirit had the idea of Saladmander fights, and I love it!

It’s too late, the event is what the event is.. And from my experience with it, it is too dangerous of an event to want to participate within.

Golden Nuggets earned from boat racing is the craziest thing ever… like no joke, it’s torture. The amount of Nuggets earned from racing are very low- AND to top that off the little boats are easy to get leaks (not to mention the shadow monkey loves to cheat by smashing into your boat as soon as the race starts LMAO)

You really should just turn on Year of the Catcoon and feed twigs to a random Catcoon so he vomits up lucky nugget pouches- Because the Boating event is actually “Dangerous” as in… if you don’t have the resources to repair the leaks, then you drowned and you black out portions of your health bar.

We should’ve probably had some sort of Life Float raft thingy we paddle back to shore with, Wes has Balloon vests…

Why is a mini game event this dangerous?!

Guess Klei took “Uncompromising” to heart with this Year of Event.

Yeah, its a shame.

If our race track goes around the entire continet you will gain 9 golden nuggets, so that is the max that you can get...thats not very much. ^O^

Klei could buff the speed, the responsivness, and the speed for your anker, etc. so that the boating is less sluggish, they could also buff boat health from 200 to 400, all of that would make boating less dangerous and way less annoying. On console you are so zoomed in, that you dont see where you are driving with your boat, you can't stop your boat if the sea stacks appear on your screen, the view distance is to small.

That is a really big problem!

I laughed at "so dangerous". Bro, the event is so safe, is so relaxing. You exchange 1 lucky gold nugget for three boat patches, if I'm not mistaken. Not to mention that protection for the side of the boat is also very cheap and your boat basically doesn't get holes. It is very far from being dangerous.

Try playing on Xbox using a controller where rowing must be done by standing at the edge of your raft and repeatedly tapping B in Rhythm, try doing this- While also getting close enough to the checkpoints to register them, while at the same time- trying to avoid being smashed by Charlie’s cheating Shadow Monkey.

Compared to the other year of events- this one is the only one that attempting to participate in could cause you to end up blacking out portions of your health bar.

Now to be fair, I’m talking exclusively about your first race, the one where you’ll only have a boat, and an Oar… and you won’t have ANY Ingots to upgrade the boat with..

Perhaps it’s not as dangerous once players are able to obtain all the proper upgrades..

But I think the boats in this event shouldn’t catch mass leaks by accidentally rowing too close to the start line activation thingy, checkpoints- or if you row slow enough the shadow primeape smashes into you.

In this case, I really recommend doing a Think Tank and taking one or two boat patches, but still, this event is far from being "dangerous", cmon. In fact, the monkey trying to hit you is easily dodged. I think out of ten times I played the minigame, he hit me twice.

What is really annoying on console is reparing leaks with boat patches, you have to stand precisley on the leak to close it. When there is any structure or item near it, it often doesn't work...it drives me insane!

Sometimes “Realistic” does not transfer to “Fun” Klei really should’ve just made it so that holding a boat patch in your hand at all while on a boat (& tapping “use”) made your character instantly walk to and repair the hole, in addition to that.. repairing boat damage itself (by applying logs or grass to it) should also get this same treatment as well.

I got to play a little bit of the skull & bones beta, and while i walked away disappointed it doesn’t come anywhere near close to Assassins Creed Black Flag, I did enjoy how simple & easy it was to do important boat commands such as: Raise & Lower Sails, or Repair ship damage.

It felt like a game designed for controllers, where as with DST.. it’s painfully obvious all of its design is intended for point & click mouse controls.

That would have been a huge QoL even on PC version too.

I hate patching leaks "manually" when there is so much sh^@! going on on my boat. It's super awkward to do on any other boat than a blank/empty one.
