Clockwork Follower Tinkering Concept?

Recommended Posts

What if you could upgrade your clockwork followers with different attachments? Give them a jetpack, give them a boat attachment to turn them into their boat varients (rook boat returns). Give them flamethrowers, upgrade their abilities. The ability to make a clockwork tinkering station to create clockworks (learned by recruiting one of each clockwork in the ruins?). Gears are really useful, but have no place to dump them.

Wx could have some upsides related to this mechanic.

How do you think this idea could be interperated? The abilities listed here are fast concepts. They can be more than just combat and have utility.

I would like it a lot if we were able use them as guards like how maxwell did. Like a beefalo bell for them and they guard where you leave the item. If that was the case bishops would be hard meta. Would probably hurt houndius use though.

If they were to add automation to dst for all characters, i feel like clockworks tinkered to do so would be the best way.

Maybe they'd finally have incentive to make houndius properly strong and not just a meatsack

I absolutely agree Jake. It seems like such an under utilised feature. I think considering followers are so easy to amasse, it wouldn't be broken to be able to make clockworks. They could also degrade overtime like the broken ones in the ruins. Gears, Frazzled wires and then a material for a specific clockwork; Purple gem for bishop, etc etc.

It's not particularly gamechanging but it'd be really fun - imo anyways
