Let's torture some dupes.

Another brainstorm thread. What ways could be introduced to cause pain, disease, sickness, and misery for dupes an players alike. Preferably things that can be controlled and don't happen at random.

 

Frostbite-burns, Electricity-poison, burning buildings that consume oxygen.

O2 poison from over using atmosuits or high concentration of oxygen, the next stage of poped eardrum.  Pumping in mixed gas atmosuit at the right ratios could reduce the effects.

Environmental irritants that turn some critters hostile, a hatch in chlorine for instance may bite. Pacu when starved. Wild pips when wrangled. 

claustrophobic trait(alot of phobias you could introduce), rude (chance for negativesocial interaction), vegetarian, carnivore, lazy(reduced work speed),  pick eater(only eats fresh cooked foods).

 

New diseases- parasite. Caused by digging polluted tiles without a suit. Hatches and voles can catch it by burrowing in the tiles to sleep.

Sir, I play halo,cod,sould caliber, pvp online only. But yeah if I had time I'd play those as well. ONI  was a fun surprise for buying don't starve an helps scratch that itch. That game was hard btw.....an I played games in the 90's without save files.

I can handle being abused game developers. Some might say I almost enjoy it. No need to hold back. If I don't somewhat hate the game I can't love it.

I had a weird Rimworld-esque thought of a feature in ONI.

Dupes relationships and the Printing pod should print Dupes with private parts .. so they could have a potential way of "Morale boost" xD (nothing graphic just cutsey Sims like anination)

Actually hatches used to be hostile when dug out and bite a few times. It was annoying so got removed.

Fire was a plan at some point iirc but i guess it become too complicated too fast during development. Still could open the possibility to many new systems to manage it. Also open furnaces, i can see people pumping oxygen to keep up a fire that boils petroleum.

A parasite dupes could catch from critters when grooming sounds interesting. Imagine it would be like bottomless stomach so getting it early might be a problem.
