A concern for future rift content.

Recommended Posts

Visual dryness is my concern for the future.

I really hope that Mobs, bosses and all other things coming in the future from the rifts and post final bosses is not going to use the same main colours depending on if it's above ground or in the caves.

Another thing in this regard is mobs looking overexagerrated, just look at bearger, he went from looking almost the same to normal bearger but lune-y coloured to a bearger with weird flaming eyes, many tusks and spikes on it's head, shoulders, body and upper paws covered in moon glass, went from pretty low-key to extreme in one swoop after the community's request. The Possessed Varg also has tusks, clear white eyes, tiny spikes all across the body, it's fur being a complete 180 from it's original design and a gem in the middle of it's forehead, for some reason. And the bright eye frog is my least favourite case of this because I really like what they were going for, I really like the eyes on it's back, I assume it was inspired by the frog IRL with holes in it's back, aside from that, it also has a horn instead of it's previous 2 horns, and a flame inside it's stomach that's visible.

Now, my issue isn't specifically with it looking different, of course, it can and should look different from their normal counterparts, however I feel like the varg and bearger designs specifically have a ton of stuff going for them to a point where it looks... messy? At least in my eyes it does.

I'll give credit where it's due though and I'd say that the Crystal Deerclops design is a perfect middle-ground between it's normal counterpart and the possessed one.

I believe that they definitely think and hope that the designs won't be samey or messy in the future, and I will definitely be posting a suggestion post in the suggestion sub-forum detailing why and what I would change myself if I were to decide on the current designs, have a good one.

They're supposed to look messed up and weird, the moon really doesn't seem to know what it's doing. I do hope that possessed mobs are the exception, and most mob changes will be just lunar mutations which are more tame (Dragonfruit lizards, carrats, bulbous lightbugs).

Yeah I don't mind them looking messed up and weird, my concern is with the designs themselves being all over the place with seemingly no connection between some aspects of the additions/changes.

I gotta disagree on this. Old armoured Bearger already had the moon glass on his paws and body but still looked plain. The spikes on his upper body, face and flaming eyes made him look more distinct, fit the name "Armoured" and actually like an undead possessed corpse.

Regular frogs already have multiple small horns, the bright eye frogs just replace that with a single larger horn, so it's not like that element came out of nowhere.

I forgot about that fact, my bad.
