My WX-78 Skill Tree

I've been working on this idea for a WX-78 Skill Tree for a while. I've been having ideas and I feel like some of them were worth compiling and making into a skill tree. I tried to pull aspects from all of WX-78's skills.

CIRCUITS Branch:

Just One More: Gain an additional circuit slot

Branch 1

-Optimized Electronics: Electricity recharges 1.5x faster
-Optimized Electronics II: Electricity recharges 2.0x faster (Requires Optimized Electronics)
-Optimized Electronics III: Electricity recharges 3.0x faster (Requires Optimized Electronics II)
-Doodad Recharge: WX-78 can recharge with electrical doodads (Requires Optimized Electronics III)

Branch 2

-Wary Removal: Circuits have 1 extra use
-Wary Removal II: Circuits have 2 extra uses (Required Wary Removal)
-Wary Removal III: Circuits have 3 extra uses (Required Wary Removal II)
-Bio-data Blueprints: WX-78 can repair circuits with bio-data (1 use each) (Required Wary Removal III)

Advanced Circuity: 2 new circuits:

Provides 3 extra inventory slots per circuit
Unlocked by scanning Krampus
Costs 4 bio-data, 4 nightmare fuel, 2 papyrus

Right click on circuit to stun all mobs within a 4 tile radius for 2 seconds (similarly to shadow sneak), 5 second cooldown
Unlocked by scanning Malbatross
Costs 6 biodata, 1 chorusbox circuit, 1 beefalo horn


-CNS Efficiency: Stat circuits provide 50% more stats
-Zapping: When 2 electrification circuits are in use, WX-78 deals electrical damage


JIMMY Branch:

Branch 1:
-Faster Scanning: Jimmy scans 25% faster
-Faster Scanning II: Jimmy scans 50% faster (Requires Faster Scanning)
-Faster Scanning III: Jimmy scans twice as fast (Requires Faster Scanning II)
-Paralysis: When Jimmy finishes scanning a mob, it falls asleep. (Requires Faster Scanning III)

Branch 2:

-Combat Drone: WX-78 can fill Jimmy with 1 stack of minerals, which he will pelt every second at mobs WX-78 attacks. (deal 15 damage per hit, 75% chance to destroy item, otherwise it drops on the ground)
-Combat Drone II: WX-78 can fill Jimmy with 2 stacks of minerals, which he will pelt every second at mobs WX-78 attacks. (deal 25 damage per hit 50% chance to destroy item, otherwise it drops on the ground) (Requires Combat Drone)
-Combat Drone III: WX-78 can fill Jimmy with 3 stacks of minerals, which he will pelt every second at mobs WX-78 attacks. (deal 35 damage per hit 25% chance to destroy item, otherwise it drops on the ground) (Requires Combat Drone II)

MACHINERY Branch:

-Helping Hand: Broken Clockworks repaired by WX-78 follow him everywhere. (Like a bonded Beefalo)
-Helping Hand II: Broken Clockworkd repaired by WX-78 can be restored to full health with a gear (Requires Helping Hand
-Helping Hand III: Broken Clockworks repaired by WX-78 have twice as much health and deal twice as much damage (Requires Helping Hand II)


-Overclock: When WX-78 eats a gear, he gains the affect of a random circuit for 2 minutes

AFFINITY

Spoiler

-Shadow Affinity: The Queen will reward your loyalty with a new circuit (Along with the usual 10% more damage to lunar aligned and 10% less damage from shadow aligned)

Dreadstone Spikes - 4 prongs

When WX-78 connects an attack, Dreadstone Spikes rise from the ground dealing 20 damage to mobs and 30 damage to lunar aligned mobs, ignoring all means of damage reduction and planar entity protection.

Unlocked by scanning the Ancient Fuelweaver

Costs 10 bio-data, 2 Dreadstone, 4 dark tatters

-Lunar Affinity: The Cryptic Founder will reward your curiosity with a new circuit (Along with the usual 10% more damage to shadow aligned and 10% less damage from lunar aligned)

Lunar Enhancement - 4 prongs

All lunar equipment has its power increased

Unlocked by scanning the Celestial Champion

Costs 10 bio-data, 4 infused moon shards, 4 pure brilliance

Enlightened Crown: Restores double sanity over time, sanity threshold to take effect reduced to 75%, summoned gestalts deal 50% more damage

Brightshade Sword: Deals 30% more damage to shadow creatures instead of 10%

Brightshade Helm: Provides light when worn equal to that of a magiluminescence

Brightshade Armor: Reflects 30 damage to enemies instead of 10

Brightshade Bomb: Double explosion Radius

Brightshade Staff: Twice as many bounces between enemies

Brightshade Tools: All have double durability

No more circuit slots!

Otherwise people will just add more speed or a thermal circuit during winter/summer. Klei first need to make the current stat boosting circuits more competitive with speed/moggle/thermal/light circuits. Or make new circuits for planar related stuff.

Adding more circuit slots wont make people choose stat boosting circuits.

Cry about it. Nothing will ever compete with moggles atleast give slots so that the other circuits are somewhat useful, they can just add a speed cap and the other two you mentioned light circuit isn't good and two times the moggles isn't a thing. People are like OmIg0sh Klei r0B0t mAn ToO OP!!!! NeEd baLance. When they get balanced you are like holy moly  *insert character* is crap now time to never use them.

That was a cheeky edit. Just make a new post next time.

Moggle circuit plus speed is my go to as well however for summer/winter i switch to thermal circuit and the regular light circuit and sacrifice the speed. 

Better interchangeability of circuits instead of more slots would encourage us to try different combos on the fly. Skills to prevent wx from losing charge or regen charge faster when taking out circuits and increased circuit durability like Q42 has already suggested seem to be the answer.

A new craft in which to store 4 circuits like the tackle box would be greatly appreciated.

Didn't say he was bad. I know he's one of if not the best but adding like 2-3 more slots wouldn't be so bad with everyone being buffed. Also i didn't intend to combo you in one post, i just edited that since it made more sense with my previous statements. And thermal circuits aren't good when you can have speed instead, makes you more efficent plus the hot one spoils food faster and i just go in caves in summer. just my preference tho. Also planar circuits wouldn't work without more slots since there are so few slots and it would basically make Wx a normal character with planar damage without extra slots.

By winter you will have a walking cane also if you use a thermal stone over the thermal circuit you will lose more time standing beside a fire than u lose from missing out on the speed circuit. Plus not worrying about freezing makes winter just autumn 2.0. In the late game a glossamer rider beefalo can allow you to mix up your circuits abit. 2 beanbooster circuits plus the enlightened crown make for a pretty awesome combo for boss fights.

But yeah if you chilling in caves for summer then keepin moggle and speed meta going is the way.

I just commit willow main in winter and i like having both the cane and the speed circuit. Beanbooster is really good but i just don't go for it cause i like moggles and speed + i don't like taming beefalo (only for sussy pieces then i eat em) and god forbid i make glossamer saddle + beanbooster is locked behind 1000 bunny hutches.

It seems like a lot of people want extra circuits. I don't really like the idea of more circuit slots but it also seems like the best circuit combination is just 3x of speed upgrades which is kind of boring.

I also think that some of the circuits that take a lot of slots aren't utilized that much. What if you could overslot your circuits similar to the way overcharming works in Hollow Knight? The final circuit you insert can go over your slot capacity, but doing so incurs some kind of penalty - maybe a natural armor reduction meaning more damage taken from enemies. If you want to take the risk of overslotting, you could eke out that one or two extra circuits that you want to use and you would be more incentivized to use one of the higher slot count circuits for you final circuit.

I think a mechanic like that could also work in the skill tree.

I think it's pretty obvious that they are unbalanced when most WX players I've seen play almost never change their set up circuits because of the constant grind they require and because there's no reason to use a lot of circuits in the first place.

seeing how they removed downsides for woodie, how boring and uninspired is wolfgang's skill tree and how bad and lacking sense was wormwood's skill tree i really fear how other skill tree would be

There's always gonna be some circuits better for general use. And speed is very good in this game same as being able have moggles without using your head slot. People are obviously always gonna favor those. Having more slots would atleast make it so that the others see some use. And the only nerf i can see happening is to the speed maybe have it be like 20 percent instead and cap at 45.

No matter how much they balance it's still going to be completely unbalanced, look at wormwood's blooming speed boost, it needs constant and regular upkeep, is nowhere near as potent as WX's and comes alongside faster hunger drain, and with one of the Wolfgang skills literally being a permanent speed boost for normal form without having to do anything, I doubt Klei cares about character balance anymore, it was clear during reworks, and it's even more clear now.

 

Doesn't mean that just because balancing them is hopeless imo that it should instantly deter them from actually balancing the circuits.

I feel like that legday skill was designed with a single purpose to cancel the piggyback speed penality meaning you didnt feel a change of speed between mighty and normal form while using it.  

No way would i waste effort trying to juggle mighty form on and off to take advantage of that skill otherwise.

Its fitting to be able to choose shadow or lunar. Remember that Wagstaff is lunar aligned and well WX is... WX. So it's perfectly logicall that they choose shadow side just to spite Wagstaff. Also WX has shown love for the shadow side, loving how "evil" and powerful it is.

 

Plus i would like to choose than have it be chosen for me.
