Why is Deadly Brightshade so disgusting?

i dont get why people say that it prevents you from using decor plants. Is true that if you dont decor and you make your grass and twig farm underground you wont experience them outside of farming veggies but, unless is near a chest zone or a kitchen, you dont have to fight them . I had 400 day old BS in an avenue, only killed when i felt like it. I ignored them that much that they are starting to infest natural resources hahaha

There's nothing to get, it's just any fine places I pass or stand by can't have manually placed plants anymore. No more luxurious base, rooms, back rooms with fances / walls, animal pens, oasis, or whichever place / setpiece I want plant themed cannot be done or enhanced with greenery anymore without a colossal thorn to be dealt with every few days. It's that simple to understand the situation.

is just that some comments sounds like they are getting something like a hound wave non stop when there are just there chilling until you want to face them

It's in fact pretty much that, the comparison is on point. Takes you to place these plants within + around your base for a few hundred days and see how that turn our for you. It's pain. So nobody do it anymore, and we miss it.

And for a fact I did set up lava pools with dragonfruits to sorta reduce their spawning, which supposedly work considering the flood of husk around them, yet they'll spawn multiple time during the same crop growth cycle and harvest when rifts are up, this will be just as frequent for other plants put anywhere, must be cleared all the time, or don't have plants, sadly the better pick now.

i get that the base gets filled with them and change the aesthetic if that is what disturbs you.

When the 1st rift update came i intentionally made a lot of set pieces and avenues with berrybushes to lure the gestals to my base because the old plants planted pre update are ignored so im experiencing my base having +20 BS after some days.

What i ask is what is disturbing people because if is the aesthetic i can understand for how these mobs changes what you have built into something different (few set pieces in my base turned basically into BS set pieces) and trying to make them clean can be really tireshome for how often they respawn. And for that i think we need a repelent or somekind of plant replica (klei failed to give us s disease repelent so i doubt we will get one for this...) or, instead of doing other stuff, include more stuff affected by gestals so everytime get a portal we dont get like 9 BS over and over. They added bosses infested by them and instead of using the gestals spawned from the portal they just reduced the time tje portal stays open which makes no sense bacause that only reduce the time to get pure brillance (the only material that can be mixed with husks...) and the following portal will open few days later...

But if is being forced to fight them then i dont understand because they dont move, you are only forced to fight them when they are in a visited place or because they ruin the aesthetic of certain builds. As I said previously, i had 400 days old BS because i just ignored them until i went into a BS killing spree to clean the base which something i do every many winters when i dont have something better to do

they arent comparable, old hound waves interrupted players, BS dont unless they infect a plant in a place you need to stand still like a crafting station or a chest

i still use plants, the only builds where i dont use them and triggers me are the pens where there will be mobs (except volt goats because i do the security exploit in moon island)

If some images can be a bit more talking... this is the oasis area of a previous world I used to play in with some friends (the non-setpiece skeleton being one of them, say hello !)
I started to build it shortly before the rift activation and the regrets were colossal, there's either one or two groups of BS around the oasis, and another group always at the entrance. That's like 7 BS repopulating one area all the time. I didn't want to finish the build and gave up on the area. Still we continued to play for a bit... never coming back here tho.

But the rest of the main base had plants too, like, not even peculiarly many but the surrounding of the base had a charming look mostly because of them completing with the walls for the desired esthetic. That plus the gardens being close frankly didn't help, so I personally removed all the plants that were spawning BS around since the friends were complaining of fighting them too often. It all suddenly looked pretty ugly around and I didn't quite feel like doing over, that's when I stopped to host this world.
And now I no longer use plants (since we can't even disable BS it not the whole rift content altogether). I hate it here.

You fail to understand that I had BS reaching storages and crock pots along other spots I should anyway be free of standing if I wish to if it wasn't for BS.

If I remember well, at some time after "From Beyond: Taking Root" update came along with its Brightshade infestation and people starting complaining en mass about their ridiculous spawn-rates, KLei mentioned they will tone it down in future, when more mobs will spawn via Moon Rift - atm they "compensate" (in a pretty uninspired manner) for the lack of Alter entities popping into Constant's lands. Thus probably is just a matter of time till their spawn-rates will be tweaked to more manageable levels. And yes, I stress this more - Brightshades' current rates of spawning are ludicrous: on a pub I played not too long ago someone planted 1 (one) Sapling for some random reason close to PK camp and someone else made a mini-plotfarm (picture below, yellow circles).

Both locations were pretty much "camped" by BSs all time. I decided, for Sapling, to take out its "uninvited guest" because newbies got constantly yeeted. Cleared once, went on my merry way, came 5 min.later - a new "tenant" was ostentatiously occupying the spot. Cleared as well, by the time I finished some Brightshade Gestalt came waltzing in to PUFF! the 3rd BS in same spot, all in the span of 8-10 min. I just "Fukk it!" leaving it be. And saw the same situation across many more game sessions in various pubs, people cleaning plots or plants ad nausea to only have them re-re-("REEE!")-infested seconds later. So yes, even if emotionally reactive, OP has a solid point for their assessment.

no, i get it because i have certain parts of my base "suffering" from that problem but in my case i dont have 7BS every few days like in your screenshot

they really need to add new mobs because isnt neither good to fight multiple of them every few minutes or ignore them for hundreds of days like in my case

Something I don’t like about Brightshades is that there isn’t a good way to tell what is a transplant (looking at you Saplings).

Even if you are very methodical about where you place transplants someone else can place them all willy-nilly and you either have to dig everything in the area up to remove the herd or dig it up after being infested (which does not guarantee you will remove the herd if you have more than 5 (functionally moot if it remains that way but still may be possible to mistake a natural for a transplant etc.)).

If the Brightshade turned the host into a natural plant on infesting it would solve a host of these issues and people will be happy to have them come infest so they can be freed for their decor/Lureplants.

I really like this idea!
