Carbon fiber, Cement, Helium, Bitumen Etc..

Recommended Posts

Those are likely leftovers from earlier ideas. There was an unused cathegory called "refined material" which included crushed rock, bricks and building slabs. It never got added but would maybe make sense if insulated stuff required those. Also bitumen would work nice as a byproduct of oil refineries (to explain the mass loss) as long it was useful for something, carbon fiber could work as a replacement for steel with different heat stats. Cement and concrete would be nice for radiation protection (actually bunker tiles should be steel + concrete if it gets added). Can`t see what helium would be useful for though - cooling maybe?

These are not legacy materials, but there is a lot of content that has not yet been developed, just like when you write an essay with only one beginning, this data is the beginning. These materials and elements can be easily integrated into the game, but without a good gameplay, it cannot enhance the fun of the game. For example, helium has applications in the field of superconductivity. And there is also a star called "Superconductive Asteroid" in the game, but there is no content related to superconductivity. These require Cole to slowly think about how to join the game in the future.

Given how long they were sitting in the code i`d argue. Seems like they are up there as long as tags like flammable or light emitting which were planned features of materials but were never done.

Still it`s a good base they could build upon if there is reason to and when there are good ideas for how to use it.
