An accessable way to black list, or allow certain client mods for your server

Recommended Posts

Your world, your rules. You should be able to disable client mods like nightvision for other players in your server, and maybe have the option to specifically allow a certain list of client mods, wether it be general quality of life client mods, or enabling no mods at all.

There are client mods that may give major advantages such as the mentioned nightvision and as a host there is no accessable way to know, and nothing you can do about it until you do know. The option would be nice

You can set the "client_mods_disabled" to "true" in your modoverrides.lua in order to disable all mods for players on your server (but unfortunately even for admins). Not sure why there is not an in-game setting for this yet.

Yeah but using things like status announcments are good, i would like something more specific.

I agree with such a feature being added to the game at least for dedicated servers. I have actually suggested this multiple times myself.

Currently the only way to do this is by using some dark magic client-side Lua. Even thought it's not a hard thing to implement, it's far from being a priority.

Our only hope is an QoL update I guess.

You can use server side version of those client side mods you want

Still would be nice for something more accessable, not all client mods have server side and it would be nice to allow some optional ones.

The problem with client mod whitelist is that you can really just check the mod folder name, but people can change their mod folder name to whitelisted mods and get away with it. Klei might be able to check it in another way, but I can't really think of any.
