New Magic Structure Idea, The Lazy Harvester

Hear me out. You just got back from the ruins, and traded most of your wires to Pig King for a mountain of gold that will take you a long time to pick up off the ground. (I know Moleworms can help here, but they can't do much for meat).

Another example, you just cleared out your bunnyman farm, and are left with stack of meat, carrots, and pufts. What each time however, you need to take the last quarter of the day to collect your earnings. Not only that, but they have also lost a decent chunk of spoilage due to how long it took you to pick them up.

Don't you hate when this happens to you, and you think "There has got to be an easier way." Well hear me out. With the low low price of Some orange gems, nightmare fuel, desert stones, and a blueprint from a giant sandworm, all your farming pickup problems will be gone.

Introducing, The Lazy Harvester!

Just build it wherever you know you're going to have to pick up a lot of stuff, and it will send all that stuff to the nearest applicable storage container, sending all your meat and carrots into your saltbox, and pufts to your chest.

It can even be configured to work with your tallbird farm! Just add a chest nearby, and add a sign with an egg to it, and you don't have to worry about collecting every orphaned egg that you make leave.

Maybe balancing could make it so you need to channel it to pick things up, with a sanity drain equivalent to the Lazy Deserter.

 

(Maybe even add it as an exclusive Winona Skill Tree craft if you want to limit who can make it)

Basically, this idea is just a stationary lazy forager that doesn't have durability. Still, maybe tweak it to where it drains sanity at a rate similar to the Lazy Deserter, and it only picks things up if you activate it.

I feel like it could be simplified to a chest that collects nearby items with a 3x3 storage slot. I would like it alot and it could be fueled with nightmare fuel.

The first few paragraphs talked about picking up items being too time consuming, which is exactly what Lazy Forager solves.

 

Also this idea sounds oddly familiar, was it implemented in uncompromising mode or something?

Truthfully, that was the original idea. Main reason I expanded a bit further is that when I was thinking about it, my thoughts moved onto "How would it deal with things like Tallbird fortress farming, or bunny farming?" Now that I think about it, it would make more sense just to build a saltbox/fridge near the farm, instead of having something do it automatically, and overly complex. Maybe lower the capacity to just a 3x2 storage slot though, since that would still be pretty powerfull.
