Nitre crafting from guano

IRL one of substances used in production of gunpowder is saltpeter(potassioum nitrate) so let's say that's something like nitre in don't starve.

Read this part if you hate yourself and care why i think recipe is interesting otherwise read only bold part at the end.

In caves, especially those with bat populations, guano contains nitrogen-rich organic matter. Over time, bacteria break down the nitrogen compounds in guano, leading to the formation of nitrate ions. These nitrate ions can combine with potassium ions present in the surrounding rock or soil, resulting in the formation of potassium nitrate crystals.

In very very short you need to mix it with water and leave it for some time then fitler it to separate nitrate ions from the rest, evaporate water from fluid, add something that will react with nitrates like calcium chloride so for that you should probably look for maybe salt deposits and process it again but we don't want method that's harder than doing it normally so maybe we could get calcium chloride with hydrochloric acid and bones, for acid substitute it could be glands, i know venom isn't acid but can you think of something more fitting? Maybe red mushrooms? ok we got calcium nitrate now, it can't dissolve in water so you have easier time to filter again, into water, and filter. Now you need the calcium replaced with potassium to get potassium nitrate which could require potassium salt. Again we don't want salt, but we could maybe use other potassium stuff like potassium sulfate that can be found in soil ammenders and fertilizers so either compost or growth formula could be last ingredient. Heat the thing up and let it cool slowly to let the crystals form and pick only the crystals.

The filtering process involves fire so why not make it crockpot recipe instead of normal one? Guano might be easier to get in higher quantities through farming than bones so I suggest to add bucket of guano item as reskinned bucket of poop just for this recipe.

gland/shroom + bone + bucket of guano + formula/compost picking it from crockpot will grant the empty bottle(if recipe contains it) and 5 pulps which you need to leave on ground to dry or speed it up using drying rack, dried pulps will turn into nitre or will have to be mined like stonefruits.

if I am getting this right, we already have plenty of ways to get tons of nitre. earthquakes with lazy forager, salt formations (seriously, I can get like 80+ of them per acid rain.) seems overly complicated for something you only need large amounts of for webber switchadoodles  and gunpower.

How is it slow? you can force earthquakes to happen over and over

yeah its late but at the point you have enough just by mining boulder above and underground

also meteors give nitre too

That's common multiplayer problem, some renewables being made for singleplayer.

When you get to have 3 characters using nitre like wormwood who actually use try to use wraps and winona and someone who knows about hostility flares it will be very little.

In pubs people avoid building close enough to meteor zones for them to happen so most you either play alone near them or go visit them and wait for shower, just tested by speeding up the time and looked how long will i get 3 showers one after another, i've removed all rocks and nitre from the world to get only the one that will generate through meteor shower. Seems like meteor shower on default settings happen on average once 4 days and each yields on average 7 nitre. Nothing more exciting than waiting in one spot 2-7 days for it to happen.

Only server i know where relying on meteors worked well is "everyone welcome" server where meteor showers are set to TONS.

Just went to caves to see how good is the slurtle method for earthquakes, i've done it near biggest cluster of slurtle mounds in random world, 7 slurtle mounds, before I ran out of slurtles and had to wait for them to respawn the ground chest mod reported only 7 nitre falling and not getting destroyed while second time yielded 6.

Maybe unlucky or maybe it is slow. Sure thing is relying on rng that much for long trip feels bad so reliable method would be nice especially that some people here do play multiplayer.

You can make guano by feeding caged bird seeds. 
Worm could make use of it since wraps are now safer in combat, poop easier to get on surface thanks to ipecaca so actually it would have some competition to salves if not nitre shortage. But winona and people playing in summer could make use of it too.
