Moonglass fire pit

Recommended Posts

So, in dst we can get infinite light (glowcaps and enlightenment shards). Pretty neat, you can use them to light up a huge area.

What if there was an early-game version of that?

Moonglass fire pit, made at the altar, acts kinda like the obsidian fire pit from sw, that is, it's light radius is much bigger than regular fire pit's.

However the fire inside it burns at the normal rate, unlike obsidian fire pit's 1.5 fuel efficiency.

Now, that in of itself would be a pretty cool use of heaps of moonglass that we have lying around but it would be a one time thing.

So I propose that the moonglass fire pit (dramatic suspence) needs upkeep (dun dun dun! oh the horror!). Essentially it would have some sort of durability that is decreased while a fire burns inside it. As the durability gets lower the pit's sprite changes to a more cracked version. Once it reaches zero, the pit shatters. Adding moonglass restores 25% of the durability.

And there you go, moonglass would now have a constant use and we'd get a cool QoL structure, as I'm sure many players would appreciate a bigger light radius

I would definitely be cool with this idea, whether or not the firepit being glass would have some kind of prismatic effect on the light, and considering its lunar properties, a resistance/immunity to nightmare hands, and/or having a sanity restoration aura while lit, an inverse equivalent to the nightmare light. Speaking of the Nightmare Light, perhaps in its case, shadow hands would restore fuel instead of remove it (not because they're being nice, but because they want you to go insane faster).
