Gardening's controller backwardsness is causing gameplay disruptions and needs correction

Recommended Posts

Using items from inventory is largely divided between right button 'Inv Use Self' for eating, healing, and equipping items, and left button for 'Inv User Scene' for giving, storing, or applying an item to the environment or something in the environment.

Seeds and fertilizers run contrary to these rules, using 'Inv Use Self' for applying to the soil, while 'Inv Use Scene' has the character use them on self when applicable. In addition to being starkly counterintuitive and causing frustrating mistakes like eating rot and seeds, this also makes gameplay actions unavailable under certain situations where if an item is wanted for use on self, if another applicable target is near, say a pet or a chest, in which case 'eat' will be replaced with 'Store' or 'Feed', while Fertilize remains.

For the love of Charlie, fix this, please! Set 'Plant' and 'Fertilize' to 'Inv Use Scene', with 'Eat' set back to 'Inv Use Self' where it belongs, and have 'Fertilize' be the action that is replaced when an alternate command like 'feed' or 'store' becomes available.

I agree that this is counterintuitive. Additionally why is the Fertilize Plot available when no plot that can be fertilized is anywhere close. The controller support needs a massive QOL update.
