Gotheran
Been a hot minute since I was active here. Been playing around with DST last month or so, mixed on some of the content as some of it feels under appreciated by the devs, Queen Bee being a noteworthy standout, but I found a handful holes and inconsistencies that probably just slipped under the radar and haven't been thought about so I started a wee list of the things I thought of or noticed. Call it a Wishlist Changelog. Spoiler Farming Tweaks Weeds get seasonal tweaks. Higher odds as well as natural season based growth, forget-me-lots still most common Forget-me-lots: Spring Fire Nettles: Summer >Add crockpot recipe for "Hot Nettle Tea" Provides temporary buff to lock minimum temperature for a short period, minor sanity restoration. Tillweeds: Autumn Spiny Bindweed: Winter >Add some functionality beyond just being a harrasment for players, harvestable resource or interactions with other mobs or plants. Tweaks to old items Trap Can catch Saladmanders and other small ground creatures presently not catchable Butterfly net Can catch fruit flies, and other small flyers presently not catchable. Rot Rot on the ground eventually despawns with a generously long timer, 5-10 days to avoid random rot pile build up over the course of long worlds. One Man Band Interactions with Sleeping mechanics >Wakes sleeping mobs/players >Prevents players from falling asleep but does not prevent grogginess Slightly but not insignificantly Increased Durability Repairable with sewing kit? Increased rate of loyalty gain Synergise with Wigfrid? Makes no noise when held by Wes Buff followers speed and attack damage Can be used by Webber to recruit spiders, can recruit 15 instead of 10 Can distract Klaus & Depth Worms Sends no eyed deer running Spooks skittish creatures Buff to nearby players interactions with boats? Recruits Gnarwails Pearl Can make comments about the player using it near her Increases the chance of Moonquay raids when near the island Water Balloon Can effect objects besides players, fire, and D-fly Brightshade Shoevel (not old but come on) Increased durability, i'm assuming an endgame multitool having the identical durability to the two tools its supposed to replace is an oversight New mid tier items for forgotten tools Marble Hammer (Thulecite) Terradicator (Hammer/Shovel, Pitchfork, or Garden Hoe) saniTeaPot (ancient watering can that consumes sanity and no water) Potato Masher (Hambat like hammer made with potatoes) Nightmare Catcher (bug net) Glossamar Net (bug net) Bucket o' Guano Tweaks to various bosses Queen Bee: Amount of Grumble bees summoned based on nearby player count, more players = more bees Grumble Bees circle players like batalisks limit grumble bee spawns in first phase First phase queen hangs back and avoids players while rarely going in for attacks preferring Grumble Bee ordering instead, but enrages briefly when all grumble bees die. Second Phase more agressive, orders grumble bees to charge and directly targets a player herself more often Third phase gains a charge attack of her own, low damage but leaves honey trail all over intended to slow down players, grumble bees become uncoordinated. Celestial Champion phase 2 Reduce damage of spinning attack. 25/hit will still chew players and armor apart but a little less unfair. Celestial Champion phase 3 Reduce or eliminate the moon shards dropped by enlightening Snare to prevent FPS related deaths. Fishing tweaks Fish Weight Matters Higher weights can drop multiple units of fish's drops Low weights on certain fish can result in only morsels instead of full fish units Tweak some fish with unique behaviours Bloomfish can bloom with time producing extra loot (lightbulb, petals, glow berries?) Beefalo Related changes Salt Lick can use salt crystals to refresh. Saddles can be sewn to repair durability Fashion tweaks Sewing Kit changes: Doesn't break at 0% Can be recharged with silk 10% per Costs 2 more silk to make Works on more items Revert Grass Hat to infinite use Crafting Tweaks All Blowdarts produce 4 shots when crafted Character Specific Tweaks Woodie: Add means to prevent moon related changes, especially in response to the lunar endgame. Tweaks to his Were-forms: All: Were-meter is once again separate from Hunger All forms can extend duration by consuming related "foods" with diminishing returns, time in form will still be limited but can be controlled a bit more as to when it ends besides just letting the meter run out quickly. Hunger drains at the usual rate for all forms as does sanity with specific exceptions. Beaver: Can only eat wooden items such as logs, palmcone scales, twigs, pine cones, etc. To restore hunger provide minor healing, and extend form duration with diminishing returns. Small buff to combat damage 65% native damage reduction Treeguards/PoisonBirchnuts always hostile. Can tap resource sources with his tail to replant them, pinecones, dug saplings, etc. Goose: Distracts hostile mobs, taking target priority over other players (except wes) Can Only eat raw or cooked berries, seeds, or Birchnuts. 15% damage reduction Add a short "flying" ability that can allow him to "teleport" to a nearby area at the cost of hunger. Moose/Goose Non-hostile non-enraged Moslings/Goslings may randomly choose to follow Goose woodie Honking near farm plants upsets them Moose: Can Only eat non-crock veggies, grass, or twigs. Charge attack gains slight damage buff but consumes hunger on use. Has a constant life for hunger exchange like a slightly more active life giving amulet. Small/medium mobs and players get flung backwards by Charge attack. Lowered hunger drain. Any structures or resources that break when charged into do not stun woodie, only those that still stand. Fences break instantly rather than requiring multiple hits. Survival kit changes Revert Thermal stone behavior to not have durability Sailing Related changes Add spyglass item that can be used to scout nearby Allow emergency paddling by hand but generates wetness and very weak momentum Crows Nest Mast attatchment, greatly zooms out the camera for navigation, players inside can't draw agro, increased chance to be struck by lightning if no conductor is present. Implement sliding health scaling for mobs based on players present. Performance Options: Add a setting to remove the canopy visual when under very tall/above average trees more consistent texture de-scaling when using "small textures" setting, many textures remain quite high resolution despite the setting.
