Make turf cheaper to craft!

Recommended Posts

You know what? How about an options setting for certain items, including turfs, to have their crafting cost reduced and possibly output multiplied? Clearly there are some who'd rather have the crafting element lightened, but personally, I HATE(!!!) the lightened turf crafting in DST! It really cheapened the game for me.

I was in heaven when I'd gotten my hands on the Terra Firma Tamper, and I didn't mind at all the material costs or repeated crafting, well, the ability to craft in bulk would be nice, multiplying the material cost as much as the output, but that aside, I thought it was great just the way it was. Being able to craft roads that boost your speed is a big deal, and going through the effort of finding and mining the rocky turf from caves, and harvesting all the lumber was hard work for a fittingly worthy reward. In addition, I really appreciated learning the Shell Beach Turf, which at that point required 3 broken shells to make 1 turf, a great answer for what to do with all those mostly useless broken shells from slurtle hunting. Then when it got nerfed to only require one broken shell to craft 4 turf!?! Outrageous!! And at the same time they take the already expensive crafting of scaled flooring and reduce its output?! WHAT were they THINKING!? *Siiiiiigh* I... Just. REALLY. Wish. They. Left. It. ALONE. They already had it perfect, they didn't need to ruin it.

Sorry for the rant. I love Don't Starve for what it is, not for what someone else wants to turn it into. Please don't destroy that in the base game too.

Anyway, so yeah, I'd be in favor of making lighter crafting an option, but absolutely against forcing it on everybody. Being able to craft in bulk would be a nice touch, but I'd consider that it might trivialize Winona's faster crafting, unless the bulk crafting multiplied the time taken to craft as well. Maybe the reduced crafting costs could also be a Winona character perk? Oh, right, derp. That'd require Winona being added to base Don't Starve to begin with, which I wouldn't be against.
