Post Beta Nightmare Werepig Feedback

The nightmare Werepig is definitely one of my favorite bosses that’s been added to the game. It isn’t terribly difficult, but it is interesting and represents the development shift towards improving accessibility very well.

The columns are very clearly destructible, and the lower tier pickaxe recoil hints at late game content that isn’t normally obvious.

The fight is very readable. Its attack range is very clear and the knock back makes its higher damage very obvious. But, it’s fatigue mechanic isn’t very clear and I could see players getting frustrated at it’s hit and run tactics because they don’t understand the trick. Maybe the shadow energy diminishes slightly every time it misses, so it looks like dodging is doing something?

The armor is very nice and I hope other armor sets are given set bonuses and special resistances like this one does. The fact that it is regenerating based off of the players sanity could be shown better. The color of the armor could become more vibrant the lower the sanity the player is to fix that. The special resistance towards shadow creatures could also do with being more obvious. Even a variation in damage taking sound to hint towards it would help.

I think the parasitic shadelings were a little wasted in this fight. It would have been interesting if being insane during the fight made them spawn and presented additional opportunities to collect pure horror at the expense of a harder boss fight.

Overall, I liked it and look forward to future updates with this new focus on accessibility in mind.
