For SCIENCE!! (My first impressions of Wilson Rework)

Recommended Posts

I’m on about Day 8 of a Freshly started world as Wilson for the first time since the rework trying out the new game content Update.. & I have to say it’s honestly kind of confusing.

For starters: I 100% had to look this up on Wiki just to know how long I needed to play as Wilson before I even unlock any of his new reworked perks.

Now when your a completely brand new player to the DST franchise when you start the game your not “forced” to choose Wilson, unlike in Solo DS where Wilson was the only playable Character until you played as him a little bit earned EXP and unlocked the other playable characters.
Which means: Treating Wilson as the vanilla Beginner character is no longer viable.

As a brand new player to the game: Who’s going to pick Wilson when it takes 6 game days to even notice there’s something unique about him?

In comparison: if picking Wolfgang throws you into the world with a Dumbell you can equip, figure out how to lift and become mighty- it’s not rocket science.

Wilsons rework on the other hand.. doesn’t have even an Indicator he has anything at all that is going to make playing as him a fun, unique experience. My simple suggestion to change this would to be to add a “progress” bar to his “Survivor Items”

(this is before you play him long enough to unlock even his very first “insight” point)

Something like solo DS’s Exp bar that shows your progressing towards your next unlock (or in this case, ability point)

Also I’m confused by the need to cap his “insight” points, and I honestly think that if all perks could be fully unlocked without needing to pick/choose which ones you want- that it wouldn’t be an extremely “busted” feature.

Especially when you compare his rework to others like Wolfgang, Wendy, WX78, Wickerbottom.

Ive never fought much less SEEN the FuelWeaver so I can not comment on this particular perk tree.

Other then these issues and needing to look up most of it on Wiki to Understand- including but not just limited to: the rarity values of gem colors & why 3 purple gems = 1 Orange, 3 orange = 1 yellow, 3 yellow = 1 green..

I think the rework is pretty decent.

So in Klei’s mind- Gem Rarity values are Red<Blue<Purple<Orange<Yellow<Green<Iridescent????

This just makes me want to look up WHY on the Wikipedia and does nothing in explaining why they’re rarity values are treated like this.
