So I literally lost 20 day worth of progress on my cloud save world.

I killed Klaus and Bee Queen by day 48 and I was planning on visiting the lunar island and now I see that when I opened the game again (on the same computer) I got thrown back all the way to day 29 in Winter.
 
I got thrown back like 3 days too randomly once and had all kinds of bugs happening but I'm not playing like this. Is this a known issue or am I just unlucky. I have a feeling this should not be happening unless I'm exiting at the wrong time maybe? What's the reason for this? For the record this was a save I started as a cloud save and Idk if Cloud saves tend to be buggy or not but at this point I don't want to play anymore. Totally killed my mood.

Hello @TheDankDwight, welcome to the forums.

That is definitely a terrible situation. It is never a good feeling to lose a whole chunk of progress. While there might not be a way to revert it back to where you originally left off (Day 48), since the save file is already overwritten because you only see Day 29 in your Host Game screen. There could be multiple variables to why this might be happening. Here are some ideas that come to mind:

  • Running out of disk space on drives, so new data can't be saved anymore.
  • Logged in account on PC does not have Administrator Access and is having issues with saving.
  • Saving process getting interrupted/corrupted, so game is forced to load the latest uncorrupted save which is Day 29.
  • An OS update might've messed with your documents folder where the save files are.
  • Mods causing conflicts during saving process.
  • Started online during your whole progress, but cloud wasn't able to sync when you finished your session after Day 48 that the Day 29 was still the latest save on the cloud.
  • Mod conflicting with cloud save process.
  • etc.

What I would recommend is the following, that you send a bug report to the bug tracker found here: Klei Bug Tracker - Don't Starve Together - Create New Bug - Klei Entertainment Forums

With screenshots if possible and all the necessary log files you can gather. Instructions below.

Don't Starve Together Log File (client_log.txt)

If you notice a critical error when playing Don't Starve together, close the game (to ensure that the log file gets fully written) and go into your Documents folder at Documents\Klei\DoNotStarveTogether\ and find "client_log.txt". Include the content of that file in your bug report.

MDMP File

If you are playing on Steam, it may be helpful to provide us with your .mdmp file. It should be located in your Steam folders at: Steam > SteamApps > Common > Don't Starve Together Beta > bin > .mdmp

DXDiag

In order to get a DXDiag on Windows:
- Click on your Start button
- Press the Windows key + R on your keyboard to access the "Run" window
- On the new window, type in dxdiag.exe and press enter; this will open up the DirectX diagnostic tool
- Click on the "Save All Information" tab on the diagnostic tool
- A "Save As..." window will pop up where you can click on save. It will save your hardware information as a document to your desktop (default).
- Close the diagnostic tool and attach the new document to your forum post or support ticket.

Your log files may help the devs diagnose what could be going wrong with cloud saves creating these issues.
