Server crashes after "... file(s) removed" during saving or rolling back

Recommended Posts

My servers frequently crash during world saving or rolling back, showing "... file(s) removed" as the last record in the server log, like this:

Does anyone know what happened to this?

What you saw there seems to be the normal snapshot cleanup process to me. (The DST Server keeps a configurable amount of snapshots/saves for rolling back before cleaning up the oldest ones to prevent them from filling up your storage.) I've seen these "mass cleanups" occasionally when noone has been to the caves for quite a while or something. They never caused issues for me though.

Maybe there has been an error before the big dump of file removals? Such as a mod crashing during the save process?

Mod crash usually leaves crash records in the log file, but there're no such records in my logs. It just suddenly shuts down after removing files.

Normally the next step after removing files is to update players' savelocation (What's that for?) and I wonder if there's something wrong with it.

Really annoying problem for me :(
