Tips on finding Moon Quay?

Any techniques on finding moon quay early game? I love having the monkey tails and banana bushes, but it took me an entire spring to find the island and I was even searching on the correct side of the map, can't imagine if I had to search the rest of the ocean. I'm hoping there's a better way to narrow down the location of the island, similar to how finding lunar is.

I would say that if you get a monkey raid you would be going in the right direction but as well all know monkey raids are just a myth unless you got a hostile flare.

There was a video where someone shown that the island is generates three screens from the edge of the map. So find the edge, count the distance of three screens (a circle of "light" around the character icon), and just sail around staying roughly on this line.

What Lokena said + play on a small world or play Woodie 

i wish it was easier to find as well. 

We really need spyglasses in dst to make finding points of interest in the ocean more  manageable.

Not really true. i found the island this way but it's a really big area where the raids can happen. Hostile flares summon raids anywhere. but yeah the most working technique to finding the island is the 3 screens from the edge of the map and the looking out for raids while doing so

thank you. I have seen this video, but if you start in the exact opposite area, it can still take ages to navigate the full thing

Yeah, but I guess some things just depend on luck. If you need to find the island very-very quickly - start the game with Woodie, although this will require switching the character later if you don't really want to play him. I don't think there's any trick to find it faster besides that.
