Need help describing a job request on Upwork to carve out one aspect of an existing mod

There is currently a mod I use with many features but only use 2 of them.  I would like to carve out these 2 features into a separate personal mod and am willing to pay someone on Upwork to do it for me since I don't know lua.   Since I don't know anything about lua, how do I go about describing the work that I want done in the job posting?  If I simply describe it in laymans terms, will the developer understand what I want?
