Not many people use boomerangs doesn't mean they aren't also useful for something no? If they want to know directions use a compass if not that's their problem rejecting the answer doesn't make it not the answer.

Boomerangs are one of the few ranged weapons. Better comparison is thulecite medallion.

The relative uselessness of the compass doesn't justify the lack of a simple UI convenience, especially when you can find north by logging out and back in (or aforementioned walking trick.)

Again though the item with that purpose exists it doesn't matter if you can figure it out without it ignoring it's fuction and saying give me the answer by default isn't suddenly a justifiable stance simply because there are work arounds.
