Horticulture Abridged makes 10 crops/plants grow.

Horticulture, Expanded makes 15 crops/plants grow and if it's a crop, it also tends them. Combine this w/ the rain book and you'll get a crop + 2 seeds back for even out of season crops, even if the nutrients been depleted compared to just 1 crop + 1 seed w/ Abridged (depending on how much water they eat of course).

Horti Abridged + Rain Book + In Season Crop + Zero right nutrients = 1 crop + 2 seeds
Horti Expanded+ Rain Book + In Season Crop + Zero right nutrients = 1 crop + 2 seeds

Horti Abridged + Rain Book + Out of Season Crop + Zero right nutrients = 1 crop + 1 seeds <- 1 less seed, that's it.
Horti Expanded+ Rain Book + Out of Season Crop + Zero right nutrients = 1 crop + 2 seeds

Neither book will produce giant crops.

My suggestion is this for Horticulture Expanded is this:

1. It should grow 18 or 20 crops instead of 15.

This lets you farm two tiles of 10 crops each since 10 crops is how many you can grow a tile before facing the overcrowding stressor.

If 20 is not the number you'll shoot for, at the very least, 18 would be better since people normally do 2 tiles of 9 crops each.

Otherwise, Horti Expanded gives 5 less crops for more seeds (50 crops versus 45). If Horti, Expanded was 18 seeds or 20 seeds, it would 50 crops vs 54/60 crops.

It's just that at a certain point, you don't need to get more seeds anymore, so the benefit one book has it that it lets you get more seeds and that's it.

2. For stone fruit bush & banana bushes, Horticulture Expanded should power grow to them to their last stage.

Both books only make these plants grow one stage, so it's just better to just read the Abridged version since it has more uses. Point 1 would also affect this, though I'm sure there can be a check to differentiate if the ent being grown is a crop or not.
