Gassy moo sustainability

Recommended Posts

So I've been seeing people who want gassy moos to reproduce, but what if instead, gassy moos could do a 'mating call' of sorts on asteroids other than their home asteroid when sufficiently happy, and it would cause a gassy moo to crash down from above where the other moo is, albeit on the surface?

This would solve the ''too hard to automate'' problem that makes them useless while providing unique conditions for potentially containing them automatically, like a giant strip across the top of the base with bunker doors to lock them in for capture or something.

I actually thought about some sort of artifact buried deep in the moo moonlet that attracts the moos so taking it to a different planetoid would make the moos drop there (could be also attached to some sort of beacon so they drop in one zone). But i think your idea is actually better. Maybe it should require the moo to be tamed and at a certain point it would cause a single or a group of moos to arrive.

Yeah, I was thinking something like you tame the moo and rather than laying eggs, it would call down more of it's kind.
Maybe it could also depend on some other factors, too, like perhaps living conditions. Or, we could incorporate the artifact in a way as to where it enables this feature of moos for all asteroids after it's been removed from the neutronium. That would also give a reason to tunnel down the asteroid and not just grab one moo and leave, and I think that would fit way better. The artifact could maybe even attract moos without having to wrangle them, much like bait, provided its fairly close to them, as a secondary, asteroid-specific use for whatever asteroid you keep it on.

Honestly, I just want some reason to actually go there because moos aren't worth ranching in both versions of the game due to the difficulty of containment/repopulation and the lack of usefulness. Something that enables them to "reproduce" in a unique way in general is very needed.
