[Suggestion]Making Wolfgang's Mighty Form Less Mandatory

Recommended Posts

Compared to Wolfgang's mighty form, other characters' perk forms are much less mandatory.

- Wig's song can be turned off and still function normally.

- Wendy's Abigail can be turned off.

- Wanda's old form can be turned off and live a normal game play as "young".

- Woodie's wereforms are also a switch on and off function.

But Wolfgang's mightiness meter has to be constantly taken care of, failure of doing which will have make him less than a regular character in various aspects. Because of this, he's less appealing than other players in a non-fighting gameplay, a lot like old woodie who had to carry a stack of logs to eat and eat logs or twigs constantly. It shouldn’t punish players for not wanting to stay mighty or not wanting to engage in the perk.

I suggest that Wolfgang be exempted from constant working out and can live a regular/interesting life even without constantly tending to mighty meter.

------------

Below is an example of how this can be fixed. The example solution is just an example, its goal is to spark more ideas, but not to be considered seriously as a final solution.

Solution:

1. Mighty meter stops dropping at 25 if Wolfgang carries a dumbbell in his inventory. (This idea is borrowed from fish in wurt's inventory)

2. Mighty meter can drop below 25 without a dumbbell in his inventory, and can allow a player to intentionally turn him wimpy.

3. Wimpy Wolfgang deals less damage, and more scared. His sanity drains even during the day, or alternatively maybe just increase dusk drain rate. He also runs faster because he's scared and because he's small and swift. He runs 10% faster in Wimpy form. He also loses hunger 10% faster because of the anxiety.

4. Wimpy Wolfgang can be trained to transform into mightier forms like before.

5. Allow dumbbell to wear and tear in inventory at 1% per day maybe more, like food spoiling. (The idea is borrowed from fish in wurt's inventory)

5.1 Maybe allow dumbbells to be repaired using a repair station using rocks. (This idea is borrowed from Fishin' Bin). This is in synergy with his rowing ability which allows him to go to lunar more easily and snap a couple of stone fruit.

That solution alleviates the need to repetitively increase mightiness everyday (given currently mightiness decay is 49 per day, or about 100 every 2 days). It allows Wolfgang to be nearly as good as wilson without the perks. But the regular form also has a cost, which is a dumbbell. This also makes his perk form a "switch on" feature rather than a mandatory chore.

I'm on board with this suggestion, but i feel that this is a fundamental character design decision rework that klei will stick with. This inconvenience factor is the primary 'cost' that balances easy mightiness that you polled in the other thread.

Technically, the changes you're suggesting would pretty much revert wolfgang to pre-rework without the speed boost. Pre-rework, wolfgangs optimal playstyle is to stay wimpy/normal for normal tasks since you can shift into mighty instantly with 2 meaty stews. The rework distinguishes itself by shifting this playstyle into 24/7 mightiness with associated tradeoffs.
