Hit Indicator?

I was wondering if anybody knew of a mod or a way of getting a hit indicator or hit marker. Preferably client-side, the reason being I have a really hard time keeping track of how many times I've hit a mob due to my disability and I really want to get better at fighting bosses.

that would help! but its not client side, I'd like something I could use on any server. I just need something that can count the number of times I've hit something

I'm not certain if such a mod exists, that's the only one I could find.
