[Bad Host] How to Handle More Player

Recommended Posts

we are doing fine with 6-7 players. but when the 8th player joins it suddenly laggy as hell (super lag)

i've seen other dedicated servers with 10-30 players doing fine. are there ways to make the server runs better with more players (if possible without sacrificing core components)

Server Specs:
Host: L*n*de
CPU: 4 cores @2Ghz
RAM: 8 gb
SSD: 160 gb
Plan: Dedicated $60 / mo plan
Detailed Specs: https://filebin.net/q8r0xbl6n26vsyvw

Overworld & Caves: seperated
Overworld & Caves Settings:

Heavy mods (probably):
- Global Position
- Multi Rocks
- Cluster Plants Reborn
- Show Me (Reborn)
- Quick Pick
- Health Info

The only thing that catches my eye is the fact that the CPU cores run at only 2Ghz. DST (and the dedicated servers) rely heavily on singlecore performance, and quite a few CPUs nowadays go above 4Ghz.

Furthermore the EPYC 7601 is listed with a baseclock of 2.2Ghz, and a boost of 3.2Ghz, the listed 2Ghz imply that the cores are shared, which further decreases the available singlecore performance.

For best performance try to get a hoster that offers dedicated CPU cores, and the highest possible clocks.
