Sandy Turf and Mud Turf two-way conversion

Current mud turf recipe (sandy turf + ice) suggests that mud is just moisturized sand. For that reason I think it would be nice to be able to convert both turfs to each other without the use of turf machine via natural means. Wet dug sandy turf (while on the ground/water) would turn into mud after few days, while dug mud turf would turn into sandy turf after being heated for long enough (by scaled furnace, for example).
