Building materials/Switching worlds

Recommended Posts

This will cause endless headaches if the default building materials selected, carries over. Each world should hopefully remember what types of materials were being used, individually. So if I am on one world building sandstone ladders, the game should know/remember when I switch to a different world what materials I was defaulted on there. It must be set this way. or it will break the game for players.

Allow Mud to be used to make planters. It has no other functional use, that I know of. Give it one at least. It should serve at least one purpose. Dirt is used to make the others, it's close enough. Dried mud would work.

I have learned now that it seems better to simply wall up mud, and let it turn into water. You get some use from the water. Now, I will just anticipate the movement, and dissolution, and tank it up. Mud is worthless.

since mush is just water and dirt, mud is dirt and water why cant they eat their way off this rock?

Snow should liquefy beneath water tiles. Cold biomes should be generated with pooled frozen water, a few tiles deep, at the bottom?

Biome ring is a sight for sore eyes. Nice to see it put to use again. The option to have a larger ring would be great! A terra map with double sized ring biome to start in.

Medicine station could make water purifying tablets for CH gas or Bleach Stone. Germ re-tardant. In large enough quantities, sterilization.

Add sugar to the list of table(morale) ingredients, spices for/from flora mixtures(peppernut, sleets, balms, reeds, saltvines, etc )

Mixed Berry Jelly for Bog fruit, and Berry plant (Inexpensive(low inputs), small cal portions{400})

scooping out the sweet soupy guts of a swamp fly trap, yum.. :)

It seems we cannot have a dupe with more than one good trait at start, is new, I believe. Not sure I agree with it.

And we still don't get to see the dupes underlying attributes. There is no good reason to withhold it.

My only cy1 picture, in a bug report. Since I overwrote the gen save file :( .

So, just getting going on the new build. All is well-ish. CY4, on a previous 1CY scouting run, I dug down, towards the right some, etc.. I opted to push for this top corner, on the second cy1 load-in, dryer & warmer. I do know that one of the warp tunnels is beneath me. Still need to locate the teleporter.

I accidentally overwrote the seed gen save file, unwittingly. I wasn't sure what was happening exactly by reading the dialogs. And after it happened, I knew that I should have known better. But, it seemed very easy to do, inadvertently.

best view of my rock, start cy2. Warp tunnel just below me, break-through point got me in the wasteland biome adjacent. I will work from this area. Just gotta make some critters more cozy, get some tending bugs closer to the crops, and settle in hopefully.

Foothold up top, get to start with clean air, a break-through for iron, and maybe algae to my right. got the first set of tender bugs closer to plots. Still gotta maybe save the pacu, lost a few in the egg cycle, to overcrowding. 4-5 made it. Huge break in biome ring at foot, leaks cold and will drop all pacu to freezing death.

Start of CY12, none of the updates changed anything to major. Seems all is well, and in order.

Thanks for fixing this!

Many folks seem to have some trouble with food. These swamp space tubers, with 2.4k cal each are OP. Carefully managing that and with the few natural jelly plants, and now some spindles. I'm doing okay, no farm yet.

Not sure I agree with all the uproar about solar, and glass being so easy(or the weight). The player still has to figure it out, and physically do it. Virtually, that is. :) But, not everyone comes to this as an ONI pro.

My warp tunnels appear to be very close together, not sure if this is good or bad. Finally think I see the teleporter. At my 9-10 o'clock position. Should be able to get there in a bit. Got lucky in one of the lockers with a warm sweater. Should help.

Few small pathing issues, a critter issue, all in all not so bad. Very clean so far. Not one outright crash.

I have a bunch of glass, which I've never really had before. As has been said, it should come in very handy, at some point.

Weirdly some ruin walls are copper? While others are obsidian, and sandstone.. lockers still can't get removed, light fixtures. I do like how folks decon everything around the warp tunnels, and simply incorporate it into the colony build.

I cannot say enough about having 3 Iron Gut dupes!!!! What a RELIEF!!!!! op af

:):):):)

my 3 dupes can do some work, get things done. kinda nice. I must say the 3 gut troop is stupendous. Leaves me to actually doing, and getting things done around the base. What a relief. Not sure I want to temp fate with the warm sweater, and the -10 decor. Might be a morale spiral I don't want to deal with. Hypothermia comes and goes, meh. So be it. for the time.

Start of CY22, have pretty much uncovered the map. Located the significant POI's. Will finish tightening-up the circumstance, last bit of critter work. Get to tidying up the living arrangements, and get down to some survival. And exploration. My dudes are getting skilled-up, starting to move a bit quicker, all things a bit snappier.

Sad that I have lost almost all the initial wheezeworts. Most have been flooded, and seeded over. Which condemns these tundra biomes to soupy death. Not really a fan of it.

All in all, looks like a decent seed, I didn't get a hot tub poi, which I kinda am miffed about. :) Still got some tiny pockets to explore, we will see what we find. I won't send a dupe for awhile, as opposed to my initial considerations. I can't see much of the next rock, and they are under-skilled, I feel. Not very confident one dupe could survive. I'd rather tighten up on this side before throwing someone over there.

Because this does not tell me much. :)

I did however see tons of HY drifting out the top of the map, the first time i looked over. So, I fully expect to see, some salt biomes completely exposed to space, for no inherent reason. But, sure natural flora and fauna thrive in the hard vacuum of space. No doubt a pokeshell prancing along a starry horizon... :\

Poor Jean, my curiosity is getting the better of me. Safe journeys! :) Love ya pal!

Nice it looks good, so much food! Can't see the warp tunnels, but so far, not bad. Hope to see a grill...

And I am not at all mad that a Mealwood kindly showed up, inside the structure, no less. Nearly ready to harvest, :). Talk about considerate. Even though I wrote-up a bug about that very thing. And how it shouldn't happen. But hey...

What happens when a natural crop lands directly on a farm tile? :) We will see nosh plant, we will see.

I like the layout so far on the second rock. Need to find the tunnels, not sure it's worth letting dude stay here alone. Probably will croak. Other than pips, not much worth chasing at the moment. Suppose I am better locking up the first rock, at least begin research.

In the moment, however, I did take the opportunity to look back at my 1st rock. Which the teleporter allows you. Granting me a view I would not normally be privy to. Which is nice, almost worth the recharge time...

Thawed friend time... Not so hot...maybe consider capping the top tier skills, weight the bottom tier buff/extra skills? My Meep thaw friend is a suit wearing doctor, with no applicable skills whatsoever, really.

But the Motivated by Friend buff is truly nice.

image.thumb.png.3fb2edd5aadbba292e1b73c2491e7be2.png

Been making some desperate attempts to keep some of the worts going, essentially zero of them have any good footing, like half of them spawned on actual snow tiles. Ridiculous. Like one of them landed on a non-melting surface. What are we even supposed to do for that? Worts are always condemned, it seems, by RNG. And you took out even more of the solid material stuff used to sit on, to replace it with Salt, and Rust? whaaaa?!? okay... Granite is scarce, and the proportion of polluted water(ice) is way over the top. Consider making the balance a bit more on the self-sustainable side. Please.

stacks of snow ten tiles deep with a wheezewort perched atop is almost terrible. hurts my soul too see it. Maybe make it spawn 2-3 degrees cooler(the entire tundra biome), so it stays together a bit longer. Can hold itself together better.

Thankfully 3-4 of my bog's landed on solid ground, I think one is on mud or pdrit, and will eventually perish. And one that is stuck in the grips of the adjacent tundra biome. Thinking a battery or two may preserve that area, I do want to try and avoid having it seed over, since it is on stable footing. So, down one bog plant, for the time being. There seem to be plenty of Spindle around, but the RNG should be more similar to terra biomes, and generate long flat chambers, to synergise with spindle crop plots. Long flatter chambers would be more conducive in the wasteland biome. imho. The critters that tend them tyically are confined, cramped, and glum due to the way the biomes are generated. Anti-critter.

Got my first crash.. likely a video mem crash out, game has been running for hours.. but no generated report.

The manual gen's seem bugged, having a hard time making them not run, even at 0% and 1%.

Have a feeling to re-roll this seed, after seeing that sucrose has now become a dig-able tile type. See if I can get a map with some. Only have 2 days left, might just sandbox for a bit. See what's out there.

Can anyone tell me how to reveal the starmap? So i can see all my asteroids, or how to clear the main big map?
