Mods that should be included to the game - Quality of Life

Recommended Posts

Hey KLEI!

I know you are working on the DLC trally hard and knowing you I can't wait for it because I know it will be soooo goooood... I wouldn't like to distract you or ask to make last-minute changes because it is never good idea... However... I remember how for the automation pack you guys took a moment to consider some features that community wants so badly in the game that it created mods to introduce them. I really loved that you included some of the mods to the base game, because it not only showed that you really care for the community needs, but also recognized some modders great work. So, if you wanted to make this kind of great move again, I decided to gather some mods that you might look into and consider including them to the main game.

In this topic, I gathered some Quality of Life mods, that include simple tools or improvements that could be easily added to the game without breaking much balance. I tried to select the ones that resolve most annoying issues and seem to be easy to implement. With those included to the game, we would be able to spend more time enjoying your great game and less on being annoyed when it is not nessesary.

1. System Clock
https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2013164217
Many users experience this horrible time deletion bug, when after 1 hour of playing the real world progressed by 5 hours... This wouldn't fix the bug, but at least it could be mitigated as much as possible without breaking the game.

2. FreeCamera
https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1737603705
Small improvement to our camera, allowing to see a litle more details. It's really nice when you need to build something near the world borders.

3. Bigger Camera Zoom Out
https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1717463209
Helps us see more of our base. Really usefull after some cycles, when our base grows really big and it's starting to be hard to control everything at once.

4. Tinted Resource Panel
https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2157348803
Little help to make resource panel easier to read when it would be displayed on bright background.

5. Build Straight Up
https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2135682628
ONI is about planning, but for some reason we cannot properly plan building rockets and monuments. I'm not sure what changes to the rocket system DLC will bring, but if we stayed with prevoius, modular design, it would really help if we could plan our rocket and just let dupes build it.

6. Better Info Cards
https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1960947963
When there is too much stuff on one tile, their info cards fall behind the screen. This should allow to fix the issue and help the user to see as much info as possible.

7. Show Building Ranges
https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1960996649
Small detail that helps to understand how our buildings work. Would work nice with space scanners (assuming their function would not change), but is really nice with pumps and sweepies as well.

8. Sweep By Type
https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1863428350
Nice option to sweep only things that we want to be cleared.

9. Plan Buildings Without Materials
https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1717526174
Another great improvement to make base planning easier

10. Drag Tool Area
https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1835851890
Small improvement to help us plann our rooms easier

11. Pliers
https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1848884654
Simple, but great tool to fix small mistakes in our pipes or wires connection.

12. Blueprints
https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1814341183
OK, that one could be more advanced to implement, but it would work well when we discovered new asteroid and made colony on it - There is no need to design bathrooms from scractch when we are in space age

13. Cook With Heat
https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1878289465
Cherry on top - we all love how ONI allows us to reach the same solutions using many different ways. So why not add one more way of grilling our food? Always wanted to taste Pacu a'la Volcano

Spoiler

Some mods include more advanced ideas, that seem harder to be implemented. I don't want to ask for too much, but I feel I must at least say a word about some great ideas the modders created:

https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1822160024 - Wounded Go To Med Bed
https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1855163252 - Falling Sand
https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1872051674 - Wrangle Fliers
https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2128885110 - AI Improvements
https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1710686863 - Ranching Skill Increase
https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1831438994 - Critter Inventory

https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1835394161 - Build Over Plants

Once again - great thanks KLEI for all great work you do for us. We love you guys!

Question to the forum - did I miss anything important here, guys? Are there any Quality of Life mods that I am not aware of?
