[Experimental Smith] What's the difference between Recoverable Health and Moxie

Recommended Posts

I finally managed to beat Smith's Bar Brawl but I don't quite understand how Recoverable Health differs from Moxie? In the screenshots below I had 11 Recoverable Health and 6 Moxie, and when my turn ended I regained only 6? Is the Health Smith recovers after his turn his Recoverable Health so long as it's below his Moxie?

They're two different (although related) mechanics.

Every time you get hurt during your turn, your Moxie increases by 1 or 2, independently of the damage you took. At the end of your turn, you heal 1 hp per Moxie count, then your Moxie gets halved.

Every time you get hurt during your turn, your "Recoverable health" increases by the amount you got damaged. Whenever you use an "Alleviate" effect, you heal that amount up to the value of your recoverable health, then reduce recoverable health that same amount. At the end of your turn, you lose all Recoverable health.

The key point is that "Recoverable health" does nothing, unless you have access to alleviate effects. Moxie heals you automatically, although usually not as much as whatever damage you took. And both of them only trigger on damage you take during your turn.
