Learning from existing mods

Hello,

I'm trying to learn how to mod by installing an existing mod and editing it to fit my needs and to learn.

However, everytime I change a mod in Steam\SteamApps\common\Don't Starve Together\mods, there is no effect when I activate in in my server.

What am I missing?

You might have to copy the mod folder first, maybe steam realizes that something changed and changes it back...
