Vauceene
So I bought the game yesterday and played a full run with both Sal and Rook. I noticed that just like Slay the Spire, I was not playing the full game with either of these, but a gimped tutorial version. There never was any real risk of losing, and I expect that the experience was a mere tiny fraction of the enjoyment I would get from the full game. My question is, is there any way to instantly bypass the grindwall and get access to the full content right away? That would immensely improve my relationship to this game, as I have very little use fof a 50+ hour tutorial (or however long it will take to reach full prestige with all the characters.) You guys don't have to worry about my learning curve or anything of the sort. Even if max prestige is so hard I only win 0,0001% of games, that is what I want to play right now. If not currently in the game, could you please add this as an option for very experienced strategy gamers like me? Cherry on top? Monochromia
There is no current in game option, but if you want to skip to the highest prestige rank immediately you can edit your save file to do so. These instructions assume a windows 10 computer. In your user AppData folder (Windows Key-R search %AppData%), go to AppData/Roaming/Klei/Griftlands/(some long string of numbers here)/. You want to edit the "profile" file here (Notepad or any text editor app should work fine). Under "advancement" (near the top of the file), you can manually change these values, presumably to SAL = 12, ROOK = 12 to unlock the final prestige (12). Near the bottom of this file you might also need to change "played advancement" and "selected advancement" to 12 as well (I don't know, haven't done this on my own). For card pack unlocks, setting the "points" field in the "unlock_data" to some value around 50000 or higher should enable all of the card pack unlocks for each character. Happy unlocking. Make sure you save the profile file as the same file type (.lua) you loaded it up as. Vauceene
Niiice, that was quick and easy. Thanks a lot! As for development suggestions, it would be quite appreciated if this sort of information was more available or the hassle was shortened to just a button in-game. pacovf
It doesn’t seem like the sort of thing that we will ever be able to bypass in-game. More like something with a quick workaround you can find by searching around in forums and the like. crowmango
I'm all for skipping the Ascension grind in that other game but I genuinely felt my playstyle change while going through the motions of maxing out Prestige. I recommend taking your time with this one. The challenge is certainly welcome if you just want to fight everyone, but the game is pretty story focused vs. slay the spire and picking sides is quite meaningful to the character development. I wouldn't say it's impossible, but it's definitely forced me to pay more attention to routing my encounters so I alternate between 1 or 2 negotiations and then a combat to regen resolve, which is a game mechanic that I basically ignored in my lower prestige playthroughs. Out of curiosity, are you using base cards or are you using drafting mutators at the start? Vauceene
So in my first Sal game at prestige 11, I got ganked pretty early in a robbery gone bad. I did notice the spike in difficulty right from the start. The negotiations went just fine though. Second attempt was a breeze though. Not sure if I got very lucky or if you guys hyped up the negotiations too much. I assume the most likely case is the latter. ; ) No problems exploring various dialogue paths just to see what happens. pacovf
I don’t think the negotiations have been changed with the last few patches? So it should still be very doable. First few prestige levels do ramp up the difficulty of negotiating, and you want to get some combo going before the last couple days. But if you get a few negotiations early on to ramp up your deck, time your combats to get resolve back when necessary, and drink if you’re low and expect to walk into a hard negotiation, you shouldn’t find much trouble choosing whichever dialogue options you want. The game is balanced around the player being able to win 98% of negotiations they come across, at all prestige levels. Of course, it helps to know what to expect during your runs, but that’s the case in all roguelikes. I've done I think 2 runs with Veteran, just to play around with a defense/counter build on Sal. T'was super fun letting Kashio hit herself for 50+(x3) in a turn.
