caffeinated21
I sometimes like thinking about optimizing a random feature the game. Which gave me the idea: what is the minimum amount of rocket fuel storage that you need to ensure no delays in rocket fueling with multiple rockets flying different length missions. For any particular pattern of missions there will be a particular analytical solution, but I wanted a more generally guidance they would be suitable across a range of destination profiles. Long story short, ended using Poisson statistics* to calculate a volume that should be sufficient >99% of the time. Gotta love a computer game that has enough depth to need stats to optimize it... *i’m aware that the rocket arrivals are not completely statistically independent, so it doesn’t apply perfectly, it it’s a decent approximation.
