Huge disconnection Issues with RoT Beta

Recommended Posts

I opted in to the beta on steam a couple days after Return of Them Beta was released. Since then, I constantly have disconnection issues. I've only played on personally hosted servers. I've even made an offline server and made it local only. I can play for about 20 minutes, then the server will disconnect. Repeatedly. Relaunch, 2-3 minutes in game. "Disconnected. You have lost connection to the Server."
Theres periods where I can play fine for anywhere from 20mins to 2 hours. But when the disconnection fit hits, it'll disconnect over and over for a long time. I also noticed that the server will choke and disconnect around certain areas of the map. When it acts that way, I have to genuinely avoid those areas while I play. The areas have nothing particular about them, sometimes its a certain bees nest, or a certain random area in a biome. It doesn't seem like theres any rhyme or reason, or an obvious bug.
This ONLY started once I opted into this beta.
I do use 10 or so mods on the servers, but I tested servers as vanilla and I have random disconnection issues on them as well.

I have something like 900 hours on DST on my steam account. I've never had issues with disconnecting. Through years of hosting dedicated servers, The Forge, The Gorge. Its never been a problem on DST. I also play on other online multiplayer games, like gmod, and my internet never shows signs of cutting out. Nor in any other way. My internet is solid when browsing the web, playing other games, streaming, anything and everything. Only when I play DST since the RoT beta.

I've also opted out of the beta to see if things would be better, and the curse has carried over to normal DST.

I took a internet speed test during a disconnecting fit, my ping was 12, download 159.94, upload 12.03. via Ethernet cable.  And an internet stress test cleared me.                               I'm not sure if it matters, but my pc is Windows 7. 3.30ghz / 8gb RAM.

Some solutions I've tried, I thought maybe it was a port issue with my pc, so I manually put rules in the windows firewall for DST like I did once for a dedicated server. Nothing Changed. Checked ethernet cable. Restarted my router. I don't know why but I even checked DST's file integrity. Opted out of Beta. Opted back in. I've waited hoping maybe a Hot Patch would come out to fix some underlying bug I didn't know about. But alas that hasn't happened.

I've looked around online and in steam forums, but I don't see anyone bringing this up. I would love a miracle solution because I honestly miss playing DST. If this is the wrong forum or if I'm doing this wrong, I apologize. I'm just very desperate currently.

When switching out of between the beta, please validate the game files via steam.

If you could reproduce this in the beta, then please submit a bug report and include your server_log.txt files for the master and caves for the cluster you are running on. These can be found in \Documents\Klei\DoNotStarveTogetherReturnOfThemBeta

Okay, I have read the bottom of the server log for the caves, since I was exploring the ruins while this happened, manifesting in freezing of everything, including my movement. Here it says: "[00:01:31]: [Shard] A slave has disconnected: 'Caves(2472269099)'", then "[00:01:31]: Sim paused
[00:01:31]: [IPC] Received shutdown signal.". I think this pretty much explains the abrupt freezing and shutdown of the server, saying "Disconnected, you have lost connection to the server". By the way, I was playing alone when this happened.

Yes, I have tried, but with no luck. The issue was related to worm attacks, as everytime one was about to happen in the place I was in it resulted in a disconnect. Luckily, the devs took action and later that day(about 3 hours later) they released a hotfix fixing the issue I had just talked about. I am very thankful for this, as otherwise I would have been stuck there, I dont know if they fixed it because of me reporting it, or if I just got lucky and posted right as they were working on it already. Regardless, thank you for your help!
