...Wilson has become the new Sovereign and God of Constant. Charlie never got to release him, and Wilson got an unearthly compression of physical reality, of the universe and its dimensions. In his mind, the scientist captures the omniscience and omnipotence, yielding to the malicious charm of "Them".
Meanwhile Maxwell, miraculously survived to death, finds himself lost in the lands of Constant. Find Wilson's old encampment and his portal projects, but Maxwell is unable to complete it by himself. He builds the portal's frame, but every time he "pulls the lever", the portal does not activate correctly.
Until one day, from another part of space and time, another portal manages to communicate with Maxwell's portal.
The magician, incredulous, looks at who is on the other side: there are Wagstaff and Winona, who have never been abducted by Charlie and reach the magician safely.
Once together, Maxwell explains the situation and Wagstaff understands that all the argonauts must be reunited: he develops his umbrella-teleportation and starts traveling in space-time: all survivors still alive see the creator of Voxola appear from nowhere in different moments, like a sort of celestial and unearthly appearance.
"You are not alone. Follow me, mortal!" says theatrical, the brilliant scientist.
DST starts this way not thanks to Wilson but to Wagstaff. And now the enemy is no longer Charlie, still a simple pawn. A far greater threat looms over the Constant, while Wilson gradually take knowledge of his "virtual" omnipotence.
Just a matter of time, before he too begins "playing dice with the world" following inscrutable wishes.
