Night Posted February 28, 2013 Share Posted February 28, 2013 (edited) This Is more or less a re-post of my old thread "Hair and bridge ideas" with an addition of new Idea's and suggestions please let me know what you think and if i come up with anything more for the game I will be sure to add it to this list.New Resources:Iron Ore - This would be a new drop from boulders this could be smelted with a new construction (smelting Furnace), and made into items such as swords, axes, pickaxes etc.Diamond ore - This would be a new boulder like object that if mined with a gold/iron pickaxe can yield x amount of diamonds that can be turned into tools and other items/jewelry/gear.Fruit trees - have new types of trees that when cut down yield both wood and a specified fruit for said tree. i.e. grapes, apples, peaches etc.New Structures:Gate's - allows only the player to enter through, which can be helpful in both keeping creatures out, or keeping creatures like Beefalo in. Furnace - Allows the ability to smelt iron ore and other rare materials into gear/ingots.Bridges - this could be a new structure the character can build (like walls and can be built with different materials as well) to reach other areas not easily reached through other means (have been stuck on an island before, with only way off is to loose sanity from wormhole).Mobs:Golem's - These creatures appear as boulders or diamond boulders and when mined (or similar to Treeguard's taking form when you destroy nearby boulders)take form and attack the player.Environment:Hills/mountains - To me this game is quite flat and lacking and the addition of hills/mountains although a challenge to add would make a huge addition to the game and shouldn't be impossible to do, and with this said I know caves have been brought up before but these combined with the hills/mountains would make for interesting gameplay (caves could be instanced and roofless similar to that of gameboy zelda games or runescape.)Other Ideas: Beefalo - I think it would be interesting to be able to heard beefalo into a gated area to farm fertilizer (perhaps there already is and I just haven't figured it out yet) Hair - this is an idea i was thinking of in which all characters can cut hair to create a meat effigy i.e. Willow/Wendy can shorten their hair, Wolfgang can shave his mustache, Wes can cut ear hair (for humor) etc. now although this would get rid of Wilson's special ability he could be given something in return such as faster hair growth than other characters, or takes longer for starvation etc.Issues:When trying to build a wall near edge of land (where water meets land) it seems impossible/near impossible to build the wall and would love to see a fix for this.I will continue to brainstorm some new ideas for the game, and would love to hear from you guys on what you think of my ideas so that together we can help make this game even greater than what it already is. Night Posted February 28, 2013 Author Share Posted February 28, 2013 It's not really minecraft references, iron and diamonds are things of life because minecraft is a big game that uses these things does not make it any less realistic and interesting idea for the game but I do appreciate your opinion on that though didn't even think of minecraft when I posted this. Also I don't get the hate for the hills/mountains, in my opinion it only adds to the realism of the game and give it a bit of a change. I believe at the moment the land is far too flat and needs something like this to give it a bit of a change from just flat lands as far as the eye can see.I appreciate your opinions and hope to hear more from you in the future. Night Posted February 28, 2013 Author Share Posted February 28, 2013 (edited) hahaha I enjoyed the video, and thinking more on the diamond factor it would be rather hard/impossible to reach diamonds in the first place which kills any possible realism so forget my diamond portion of my ideas and all is good. Night Posted February 28, 2013 Author Share Posted February 28, 2013 this may be a combination of lack of sleep and beer talking but even though diamonds don't make much sense in our world, don't starve isn't really the world we know, so it could be possible in this world but still I do agree diamonds don't really fit in this game and should not be incorporated in it, just thought I would state that it could be possible in this world though. Night Posted February 28, 2013 Author Share Posted February 28, 2013 As I stated before the similarities to minecraft were unintentional I do feel stronger, longer lasting gear would be a nice addition, and I felt iron would have been a good material to use for this, but never the less I do appreciate that you guys think that at least some of my idea's are good.
