One of the advantages of having people on different shifts is that, since they're not all sleeping at once, you can have one bed shared between multiple people. This is a common practice on submarines, which don't have anywhere near enough beds to give every crew member their own one, and it would be interesting to see this implemented in ONI. Obviously this should confer a morale or stress penalty compared to having your own bed, but if you are in a situation where you haven't been able to build enough beds for everyone, and you have dupes on different shifts, this could be worth doing.
