Making a boat able to use sails only?

I've been tinkering with Walani's surfboard to make it a tad more useful. While I've managed to get it able to equip sails, it unfortunately also lets the board equip other items like boat torches and canons which is not what I wanted. I don't actually know enough about modding the hud specifically to remove the other equip slot and I cannot for the life of me seem to find the files that contain the code for the boat hud anyway. How can I get her board to only be able to equip sails and not things like trawl nets?
