It would be helpful for automation purposes if animals always (or almost always!) laid eggs in predictable locations.

IRL, chickens can be trained to lay eggs in their brooding boxes for easy collection. Maybe 95% of the time, you still have to glance around the coop for it.

I'd like a similar item in ONI: nests. Visually it can be a little box with some hay in it, require reed fibre and raw mineral to make, and have a cute little animation of the critter snuggling up in it. Maybe it could require the occasional turning by a dupe and produce polluted dirt.

I was thinking hatches should have little homes where they can burrow, just like they do in the ground. It would provide extra happiness for the hatch. Could also work as a place where it lays eggs. Similar nests for shinebugs or dreckos would definetly be useful. Sometimes they lay eggs out of reach of the dupes.
