Floating Ice

this is for "mined" ice.

i find it weird that ice, which has a lower density then water will sink to the bottom of water. i think it should float on top of water, and also have a higher rate of heat exchange, as it is now, i feel it melts way too slow.

also, instead of having it all melt at once, is it possible to make it simulate normal melting a bit better? as it is, it all melt at once instead of it slowly shedding some  ice and melt partly.
